How is selling something that is literally the same product but just a different color not milking it? If anything what you bring up with the bonus tracks would make it better imo. They are offering a unique incentive to buy each unique version rather than buying the same thing.

Yeah they are doing a poor job of it but the people they are milking are the vinyl fanatics they know will buy up anything they put out. They are just milking a smaller group of people for the most minimal amount of effort put forth by them.

Nobody said massive. But there's a nice potential gateway there. Not just youth but people who may have overlooked them before. And if anything he was on the relevant pop culture conversation for a minute in a positive light - however just a month or so later the Boyd metoo thing would happen. And with how that came and went for them rather quietly (in comparison to many other cases), maybe its good they just sat back.

werent you the one that mentioned streaming is much more common now than it was back then? its not surprising at all that something that was released 10 years ago did better in nonstreaming formats. The fact its doing better than CT is either an indictment on CT, accolades to ME, or most likely, both

We will all forget about the promotion once the album drops. I truly don’t give a shit about anything other than the quality of the music. Would it be easy for them to promote more? Yes. Would I prefer they did? Of course. But…they aren’t, and…yeah. I mean I just don’t see the point in continuing to be pissed about it.

The album will come out, be super overrated, then will be underrated once the shine comes off in a year or so. Remember when SMLAM was gonna be the next Billies-quality encore closer? Remember how amazing Belly Belly Nice and Drunken Soldier were? Then, yeah.

I just want good songs, and I like most of what we’ve heard so far.

The begging to be teased more by management is just kinda strange.

I don't even get why people are wanting so much promotion NOW anyway? Promotion in general YES but what is the point to promote in Feb and March an album in May? The point of promotion is to be able to give people a tangible item they can interact with. As of right now, if Dave/Band goes on a talk show, etc. there is nothing for the fans to get. The album isn't available yet, there is just a single out that is already top 5 on radio and doing its own thing. The promotion standpoint will (hopefully) ramp up in the next few weeks. Just because Metallica has released songs from the album doesn't make them any better lol all they are doing is giving out parts of the album sooner. I'd rather save what we have left for the album instead of at this point being spoon fed a new song every couple weeks.

This has been the issue since the release date was announced - why such a long wait? The discussions we're having now were predicted the day they dropped all that info with a 4 month lead time, people knew there'd be a lot of dead space between then and release and couldn't figure out why. Still can't figure out why they're holding onto it for so long, but that's DMB.

Of course hearing Dave speak would be great. My point is it doesn't need to be in February over May when it will be more relevant and closer to the album.


There are plenty of bands/artists who announce releases with a long gap. Jason Isbell, an artists here many people respect/enjoy announced their album Feb 21 this year and it has a June 9th release date.


It is also possible that vinyl could have played a part in the date - but it most likely seems to be it was trying to tie it in with the tour. Either way, vinyl production has been very up in the air over the last few years so management may have wanted to be safe rather than sorry and make sure to build in enough time to make sure it would be ready for a release. Who knows. I know the vinyl copies have now made it to the band members so maybe if that was part of a reason things just were finished sooner than expected.


Regardless, it doesn't matter. The way DMB have handled this may not be everyone's cup of tea and appeal to all but it is very standard and there is nothing out of the ordinary here.


If in April/May we start getting Dave on talk shows, making appearances, radio interview, etc. it is going to play out just fine. If for some reason the band does nothing but just tour, that would surely be quite disappointing and frustrating but as of right now there is nothing out of line here from the band. We need to make it to May and have the album come out and see what happens at that point. For all we know, Dave could be booked on every talk show coming up. People just need to be patient.

Vinyl lead times are not the reason the album release is May 19th.

Sirius was playing what sounded like a new studio track we haven’t heard yet in the background if Dave talking about how they still give it there all in stage. Sledgehammer came on afterwards. There were no vocals and it like an upbeat outro, almost rapunzal-ish. Could be wrong but did anyone catch this?

Frankly DMB should work on keeping some of their music closer to the vest and get more new stuff written so releases don't feel so damn underwhelming. Would've been good if all we had heard live so far is MME, WATM, and ToT. Makes it feel like they are really cobbling stuff together rather than coming up with new stuff. "Shit guys we can't really pick together 10-12 songs to round out this record. Hey what about that old COVID song, that little 2 minute non-song from this year, and let's pull Break Free from the vault. There we go, good enough."
