Re: Parenting Thread
I have had a few LOL moments so far reading the stories some of you are sharing. Also a few 'damn, that sucks' moments too. But that is what parenting is, the ups and down, regardless of the stage, or years, of parenting we are all in. We all have had the 2am ER run or the all night barf and diarrhea episode. I am sure we all have taken a call from the school (if you kids are at that age yet) or heard from the sitter, grandparent, family friend or neighbor how your child did this amazing thing or simply said 'Thank You' after they were give something. It is all fun to hear and we can all laugh and cry at the same stuff because more than likely we all have been through it.
For me, my son is 14, going to start HS in the fall. So I am dealing with the teen crap right now. The moments of sheer brilliance, followed, oh so quickly, buy the utter dismay at which one can forget the simplest of requests. Like brush your teeth before you go bed or where did you leave your shoes last. One nice upside to this stage is the free time my wife and I have now to do things again. We have freedom to do a date night or do out midday for a coffee. Or if he is out for the day, to just sit and relax. There are also times when my wife and I and will be out and we walk through the park seeing new parents and younger kids running around laughing and playing and stop and smile. It is a bit nostalgic, sad too. Hard to believe that in just a few summers he will be off to college. Yet, we knew that day would come.
My wife and I only wanted one child, so there is no second chance or time around, but we also love the family we have. Would not change a thing.
