There is no such thing as a healthy smoker, particularly in context of increased risk for severe illness with covid.
There has to be a hierarchy of who gets it first.
We know you’re at an increased risk based on age. Period.
We know certain condition put you at an increased risk, and even within those conditions we know which are “worse” than others.
There are certain heart issues that put someone at the same risk level as a smoker, and those conditions are listed as critical groups now per the CDC. Not every condition is going to have the same level of risk.
I get the underlying issue. Smoking is self-induced. But this rollout shouldn’t be based on choices the person has made throughout both their life or what they did during the pandemic. Rightfully so, it’s based on what factors put you at an increased risk of severe illness and death.
