Lakers needed a creator off the bench with Rondo likely leaving.

I think Harden on the Nets doesn't work, unless Kyrie comes to Houston.

damn i assumed Musa had a smaller salary. you’re right. now i’m puzzled as Brown is a much more positive value contract and would been a piece to acquire a bigger asset.

Schroder is Lou Williams without the clutch gene. he gets the job done if you’re focused on relieving ball handling pressure from James without having to pay Rondo but i think Lakers fans will be frustrated by his inconsistency. he had a good year from three, for the first time in his career. you’re pretty much betting that an anomaly year will carry over. also, that 28th pick/Green was the only way you could get a wing asset, unless all the player options opt in and trade them. i guess you could trade Kuzma if someone was desperate enough. now you’re forced to sign Caldwell-Pope as the only way to shore up the wing rotation. this is all well and good if Schroder has a good year, so we’ll see

I wouldn't really consider Schroder a creator. He's more of a 2-guard in a point guard's body. That said, if he can shoot the three as well as he did this past season he's definitely a better scorer than Rondo.

Wonder if they unloaded Dennis and Paul at the deadline last season if they would have gotten more than whatever they get today

true but i’d rather have the 2022 pick. double draft. it’ll probably convey too as it’s only top 12 protected

though Givony says it’s possible the high schoolers don’t even become eligible in 2022 now so ugh who knows

That's a great haul for a 35-year-old Chris Paul who costs a fortune.

They dumped one of the worst contracts in the NBA and managed to get a solid package. Accomplishes a lot.

Not sure if it helps them win though. Paul's contract is obviously bad, but I believe only has 1 year and a player option left.

I don't think they're really in win-now mode. And they weren't going to win anything with him anyway. May as well shed salary, bring in potential contributors and get a pick. And, like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if they re-routed Rubio or Oubre.

I think they have a shit ton of future picks now, too, that Presti could use to bring in a bonafide star.

this is a GMs dream the more i look at it

package long term picks/2021 expirings in Adams/Oubre for a long term star
    vs
package 2021 expirings for more picks in the future
    vs
let the expirings expire, get some more free agent assets in the next offseason

Justin, do you say no to Bledsoe, Ersan, DDV and a pick for DeRozan?

Not a huge DeRozan guy, but I would be intrigued on running him at the point after how well he slotted in there in the bubble. And given how good he is in the mid-range, a DeRozan/Giannis pick-and-roll combo might work. Just trying to think outside the box from a Deer perspective.

DeRozan would be a good fit there especially in the 4th quarter.

Derozan is on the book for only one more year, Bledsoe’s contract would ultimately hurt more since he’s there for 3 more years. unless San Antonio could guarantee flipping either Bledsoe or Murray for big time assets, ultimately it would have to be a no from a San Antonio perspective, but good for Milwaukee.

Where did you stand on the supposed Kuzma/Green package for him?

liked it for sentimental reasons because i love Green lol. hate Kuzma. but either way didn’t mind the deal since it’s a wash either way- Green is expiring and so is Kuzma if you don’t pick up the QO. San Antonio has a very clean cap sheet after this year so Bledsoe’s contract doesn’t totally destroy the franchise but it definitely mucks up an otherwise good cap situation.

If you mean the Woj exclusive about Giannis signing the supermax, probably this week sometime!
