As for the highlining that stuff is unreal. The nads on that guy to walk on that rope with no safety line is beyond me. Thats almost to the point where it's kinda dumb in my opinion. I mean if the wind blows he dies. Thats crazy stuff.

I'm wanting to get more into biking and whitewater kayaking. Anyone got any cool stories?
i think i pioneered about 4 new ways to get hurt on a bike - in my younger days, not as the chicken i seem to be now.

wasn't sure where to put these, traveller's thread, outdoors thread, work thread?

kind of all three, I'm in a remote camp in northwestern BC for a month, nice scenery if nothing else.

wow am i ever pissed right now. Last day of work before vacation on Friday, planned to drive to Jasper on Tuesday, do a three day backpacking trip then a couple of day hikes in Jasper and Banff. Last night in the back yard I stepped in a hole i've been meaning for fix for months but haven't had the time. Rolled my ankle, limping around today. Haven't admitted to myself yet that I'm going to have to scrub the backpacking trip, but it doesn't look promising.

On the plus side, my wife and I might make the much longer drive to Whistler instead and drink beer with some friends who will be there next weekend. Don't need both ankles for drinking beer. We'll throw the mountain bikes in the truck if I do that one, ankle should be ok for riding by the weekend.

it was a work camp, mining exploration, so no problem with supplies, helicopter support carrying people and stuff in every day/week. We got a bit grumpy when we had to use canned milk instead of fresh cream for our coffee, so that tells you how "rough" it was.
I did wake up with a good size black bear standing a few meters away from my tent door, but it just wandered up the hill side away from camp.

I hiked the Pinnacle in Eckville, PA for the 5th time the other day... this time I did it on acid and it was a great time spent about 3 hours up at the top... Saw two four foot Timber rattlers on separate occasions, and at the top there were seven hawks that kept circling the pinnacle, such a great time!

That's not me but it gives you an idea of what its like there are so many more rock lookouts than this one up there too

I was hiking in Shenandoah National Park recently..what a beautiful place. There is a hike to the top of old rag mountain that just blew my mind. After about 3 hours you reach the summit, which is bare of trees. This gives you a 360 degree vista of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the peidmont countryside. Awe inspiring sight, I recommend the hike for anybody.
