Re: **Dave & Tim Mexico 2023**

I didn't even know about that warehouse entry policy for early warehouse period bookers until I read it here!

I got waitlisted for my warehouse period booking, and then missed booking b4 the public period began on the 27th @ 1pm ( I got a warning email that am saying I was unlikely to get off the waitlist, but unfortunately it went to spam ).

I just begged for warehouse priv's on the Chat, but no dice.

Are you planning on going in and trying to get rail and going to miss several hours of pool time or early dinner to do so?

The rail is huge and there is a select crew that makes it their mission to go in early.

You can go in at normal time and be right up front

Got my package!! Was harder than I thought it would be with the presale, but I will see you all there! Staying at the Sunrise…anyone have a preference on which resort they stay at?

This is my third time going to moon palace for the shows and I chose sunrise

Are you asking about sunrise vs nizuc or specific buildings within the resort? (You don’t get to choose your building)

Just asking in general. I wanted the Sunrise, was hoping for a swim up but couldn’t get it. I guess I was just asking which one people prefer and hoped I chose wisely haha. Im just happy to be going!

You can’t go wrong with any of them they all have pros and cons. I’ve stayed at nizuc and sunrise in the past and chose sunrise this year. I don’t think the swim ups is worth it. They are kind of in the back and chilly. Plus you either have neighbors that are lame and want it quiet or party too much.

As for sunrise it has the biggest lobby /most bars. The pool is the largest and heated.
It’s right next to the venue.

During the day they have 5-6 options for lunch at the pool whereas nizuc has 1 that I recall.

The pool parties are at nizuc and I preferred the lobby vibe there. Nizuc is smaller imo. The promoter had some late night stuff at nizuc last year, but since sunrise is next to the venue people created their own late night vibes

Last year they did a huge welcome party at sunrise that was fun.

It’s a short walk between the two depending what building you end up with otherwise their are golf carts shuttling between the two frequently.

Early entry is nice but only worth it if you get lucky and get to go in with first group. Wife and I got front row of N1 last year and it was our first time ever being that close. For the other two nights we just strolled in after dinner and had a blast just the same. You really cant go wrong...

Always chuckled at the people lining up on the beach in the scorching sun as I sip my vodka pineapple juice from the pool.

What’s the sound like that close? I’ve always wondered. Been in pits lots of times but usually 5th or 6th row and the sound is hit or miss.

Sound is good in my experiences there. It's the PEOPLE who are assholes when you get that close. Chatting, yelling, super drunk, and very territorial over their "space." Middle to the sound board in the middle of the stacks is a better spot imo.

I see some saying lining up isn’t worth it, if you go over last minute can you still be in a good spot To see the show or just hear it? I had the idea of trying to get close 1 night and just hanging back the other two, it seems that might not be possible.

Could not imagine traveling down to somewhere like that, being at an all inclusive resort, and deciding to stand in a line because I’ll be 60 feet closer to Dave Matthews and have a worse sound experience. To each their own, but good grief…

Sound was good but it did feel a bit odd. I dont know if was just because we had never been that close but for me being "a part" of the crowd is part of the fun so I lost some of that element. Super happy and lucky that it worked out but after doing it once, it wont be something we try to hard for in the future. Hope that makes sense!

The people around you completely make or break the Mexico experience. I tend to avoid the "rail chasers" as much as I can, they make me cringe. We lucked out on N1 last year and were surrounded by others who hadn't been that close but that element is still present even in Mexico. groupies gonna groupie.

Southwest Airlines flight tip. With Flights around this time being very expensive, book speculative 1-ways at the cheapest price point but within 14 days of when you really want to fly. For ATL I'd want to fly on THUR 2/16 ($544) and back on MON 2/20 ($564), so $1,108 both ways. Instead, I've booked TUE 2/14 ($166) and back on WED 2/22 ($186), so $352 total. Southwest is currently adjusting their flight schedules for late DEC / early JAN. Hopefully they change my flights in the next month or so. If they do, I'll then be able to move my flights to any other ATL-CUN-ATL flights within 14 days of the original dates, with no additional fare needed.

Tried doing this last year from MDW and it didn't work out. Thank God for the companion pass tho!

Hootie Fest announced today. January 25-28.
Gin Blossoms, Collective Soul, Everclear and Edwin Mccane.
No second headliner announcement as of yet.
I thought last years lineup was pretty solid. This year looks ok too.

if the 2nd headliner is based on the 90s, could be:

Blues Traveler, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Alanis, Spin Doctors, Third Eye Blind. Oasis would be super cool.

Last years lineup would have been great. Barenaked Ladies, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Better Than Ezra, Sister Hazel, Toadies, and a couple more. Ladies was the other headliner and I think the last night Hootie played Cracked Rearview front to back with most of the other bands joining them on some of the songs.

I went last year. It was a blast. I'm shocked 2nd headliner wasn't announced. It didn't sell out last year and this year they aren't even booking nizuc during pre sale. I went all in for Dave this year so only doing hootie if they offer discounted rooms a week or 2 before event.

Re: **Dave & Tim Mexico 2023**

I've never been but I'm trying to get some early planning in for a (hopeful) 2024 trip, and I have a couple of questions about bringing children.

The 1st question on the website FAQ is about children and the info states "You will be able to add on any additional infants and/or children to any room-types that allow them during the purchase process, availability permitting. Please check the children’s occupancy grid HERE in order to make sure you choose a package that allows you to bring your desired family members."

The way I am interpreting the occupancy grid, it looks like there can only be a maximum of 2 children for any type of room. Is this right? My wife and I have 3 kids...are we just out of luck and can't come with 3 kids? Or would I need to make them draw straws, to see which one has to stay at home with the grandparents?

Something else that could happen is, we might be traveling with another family (2 adults, 1 child). If it is indeed a 2-child max for any room type, and if the other family did come along (booking 2 rooms in total), could we "assign" one of our 3 children to the other family's room so that each room would "technically" have 2 adults and 2 children? And a follow-on question, how receptive have they been in the past to requests for having rooms near each other?

    Thanks!

If nobody here can answer your questions, I recommend using the chat feature on the website.

I can somewhat answer your last question. When the dashboard becomes available (typically in November), that's when you'll have the opportunity to request rooms near other people. Anecdotally, it seems they're pretty good at accomodating people

I can somewhat answer your last question. When the dashboard becomes available (typically in November), that's when you'll have the opportunity to request rooms near other people. Anecdotally, it seems they're pretty good at accomodating people
Thanks for suggesting the chat feature. They did confirm that it's a 2-child max per room, but they said that I could add my 3rd kid to my friend's package. And if I went that route, they suggested that I request rooms close to each other.

Now I just need to convince a) Dave & Tim, b) my wife, and c) my buddy and his wife that 2024 needs to happen, lol.

You could get a deluxe family connected

Which is 2 regular rooms connected . But you can keep the door closed

    This would guarantee proximity

I just chatted the Playa Luna folks, and they said that a deluxe family connected package can accommodate a maximum of 6 individuals. So in the case of our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) we would essentially be paying the adult rate for 4 of us and adding one "under-3" child (our youngest). Even with the under-3 child being free, this scenario would be cost-prohibitive for us.

The only feasible options we have then (if 2024 indeed ends up happening) would be either:

    a) It's only our family going. We get a 2-adult package and add our 2 older children...then our youngest stays behind with the grandparents; or

    b) Both of the families are going. Each family gets a 2-adult package, we add our 2 older children to our package, and our friends add their one child + our youngest to their package. Then we request that our rooms be located near each other.

I guess there's an option c) If my friend and his family wouldn't be going but we still want to bring all 3 kids, then plan with another ant on the boards that will be bringing no children or only 1 child of their own. We add our youngest to their package (under-3, so it wouldn't add anything to their cost), but only on paper. In reality we keep all 3 of our kids in our room during the trip. At that point, it would seem that we'd only need a minimum amount of coordination with the other party (checking-in at the same time). Ah well, we'll cross that bridge if/when we come to it!

Well, my wife and I made the impulsive decision last night to pull the trigger on this trip! Flights and 5 night Nizuc Deluxe (Wed arrival) secured!!

…and holy fist fuck me I’m so excited! We’ve been talking about it for years and now finally get to experience it. I’ve also never seen just D&T. 75+ full band but never D&T (outside of the 12ish songs from Gorge ‘21).

I’ve backread this thread but please tell me again how awesome this trip is going to be? Even though we’re staying at Nizuc, we can still go eat/drink/pool at Sunrise all the same? Neither of us have done an all-inclusive resort either. We can really just eat and drink as much as we fucking want?!?

Free to come and go between Nizuc and Sunrise all you want. Only The Grand is exclusive.

And yes, all inclusive means have at it, just try not to drown in the pool. That'll ruin your trip
