Re: Official Gilford

DMB playing this venue is 99% of the reason I have any interest in seeing them live these days. Mansfield is a haul and a bitch to get out of at the end of the night, but Meadowbrook is an hour.

It's kind of a podunk venue, when a show is near or at capacity the parking/security/ticket checking process can be very slow. Hopefully they've gotten better at that ... in 2019 I missed the first 2 or 3 songs waiting in the security line, super frustrating. And although the increased capacity = acts like DMB, the "uppers" section ends up being super far away due to how it's built. But on the plus side, getting out is never really a big deal.

I dunno that I'd get on a plane specifically for DMB. Sets are nothing special - better than a mailed in one night stop down south but really only on account of the fact that there's two nights and 2x the chances to hear whatever you're chasing.

on the other hand, fold it into a lakes region vacation and it's not a bad idea at all.

It was great. I had a good time.

This venue is the bees knees. Everything is easy peezy from entering to actually leaving the show.

    We might go again tonight.

That was the longest I’ve waited to get out of a parking lot in recent memory. Probably 30 minutes just to get out of the lot.

Right? Recency bias blah blah blah, but honestly, after doing this for many years, this is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Energy was wild, they were having a good time, I got a bunch of favorites, tonight will be hard to top.

Dos Amigos is good for a quick bite (Chipotle-like burritos, but better IMO)

The Works has solid sandwiches and great bagels.

Might be some newer options, I haven't spent a lot of time eating there for a few decades.

    Daaaamn! Sorry.

I have a friend that works at Dos Amigos Burritos but I’m not a Mexican fan. I’ve heard it’s really good stuff though.

Cheers is passable. Lots of options and generally decent beers on tap. I don’t think Concord Craft is open yet (open later).

Good luck! I’m sure there’s a lot of places not open on a midday Wednesday.

We had ourselves a good old Tuesday night party! Fool in the Rain really is the perfect cover for this band...coming off the warehouse jam was perfect. It's yo Thang is also an incredible cover choice, and the Buddy/Dave tradeoff on that was magic.

Also, phenomenal guest appearance by Tia Fuller. We hands-down got the Jimi Thing of the tour if not one of the best in recent memory!

I believe last night was my 47th show since 2001 (something along those lines). I have not posted on here in years, but needed to see if I’m crazy or not. Is it just me, or was last night the best Dave’s voice has sounded possibly in his entire career? Fool in the Rain is not an incredibly easy song to sing and is something I would consider slightly above Dave’s typical vocal range without getting into falsetto, and he absolutely nailed it.

I have admittedly been kinda “meh” on the band basically since Boyd left (although last year and this year Buddy has definitely been the best addition to the band probably ever). Last night renewed my faith that they’ve still got it in them.

Dave's voice was absolutely spectacular last night. I could not believe his vocal prowess on FITR in particular. He was clearly hoarse at SPAC, but not awful by any means despite what some would say. But last night...he sounded straight outta 2012!
