I added percentages into the post. Those are really solid numbers for those venues. I excluded CMAC because it's D&T and not part of the tour.

Of the 4 shows there were 57173/67371 or 85% of the tickets sold.

Mid week Austin, at not such a great venue, out grossing Friday night tour opener, great venue Woodlands is pretty shocking.

2100 person dropoff in ATL isnt great, but isnt terrible either. Still a lot of butts in seats there.

especially since it was the last of the texas stops as well, and midweek, definitely looked crowded. bodes well for next tour!

The gap in seats from previous tours can absolutely be filled if the band a) would hire a violinist and b) play better songs.

Those D&T numbers are the most shocking of all. Having it so close to Syracuse and right after Darien probably didn't help.

The ticket prices probably didn't help matters, either. Wasn't Lawn like $65 a pop after fees this year?

Yeah, the price increase likely has more to do with it than the violin.

yeah I (very foolishly) hoped that the increase in price was meant to signal a legacy act turn from the band

that's the model: play a set that your older fan base wants, charge a price they (and pretty much only they) can afford

    how wrong I was

I think attendance was hurt by the fact Kenny Chesney was at the Stadium in ATL the same night.

The fanbase didn't know there wasn't going to be a violin on tour when they bought tickets.

Lots of people that sit lawn are casual fans or just people that want to go because their friends are. I think prices have more of a factor in that over the songs. Lots of lawn people only go to a single show.

Obviously this is just my experience....but I know plenty of people who used to go to see DMB - multiple shows even - who don't go anymore, because they don't like much of the stuff after 2000. More songs with the earlier stuff, more of these people will go to more shows me things; however, they are older, and will likely go to pavilion seats, pushing some of the current pavilion people in the lawn.

    Did that just make sense?

I agree, I have a few good friends who started to cut down and or not going once Roi died. Said they didn't like the "new" stuff etc.

Your comment that I responded to was about paying more for a lawn seat though. I still stand by the casual person in the lawn is that of one who is just there for something to do and would rather not spend $65 instead of $45.

People in seats is another story. I agree that song selection factors in way more for those people who are already paying over $100 to see a show.

Casual fans should be fine with this tour.

Die hard fans that went to numerous shows in previous years don't like this tour's set lists because they hammer the shit out of 22-25 songs and sprinkle in a few rarities (Raven, You Never Know, The Stone, Two Step, JTR, Bartender.... all not very rare songs but rare on this tour.

And since this is a fan site... where many casual fans don't post, they aren't happy.

I bet Tampa & WPB were all pretty close sellouts. Atleast west palm probably was but I was super surprised with the tampa turnout. Felt like a ton of people for a Wednesday show and before the big weekend but it was my first time seeing a show there.

Cant speak for Tampa, but WPB N2 was sold out.... N1 had a bunch of empty spaces on the lawn.

Wrong. Violin has almost zero impact on ticket sales. In fact the shows were better this year to me than the last tours with Boyd and as a result, I saw 4 shows whereas I normally see 1-2.

You might be in the 1% or less of DMB fans who did that. There are similarly 1% or less of fans like myself who saw more shows due to no violin.

Re: 2018 Gross & Attendance Figures

5 shows popped up this week:

    Dallas- 15,613 /19,811- $893,680
    Atlanta-16,621 /18,916- $815,459
    Austin- 11,805 / 12,988- $757,859
    Houston- 13,134 /15,656- $728,025
    Canadaigua (Dave and Tim)- 8,701 /14,766- $720,830

Not too shabby, except for Canandaigua, which I don't think anybody expected to sell out anyway. Yes, I know none of those are sold-out, but for DMB in 2018, those numbers are good.
