I always thought that was so funny
The recording is just so unlistenable. It's sped up and high pitched, and I have no idea how to normalize any of that stuff.

I put my hands on it.
I remember what Henry Hart told me once about those early tapes:
    Quote:
The first era of taping was when the band started up to this time where we had lots of shows not go taped and it was far more uncommon. Remember, this was DAT decks, so you had 3 of them with 3 different word clocks to sync in your software which is very different than it is now. You couldn't pull and stretch the files... you had to do algebra to enter in lengths of time tracks and entire shows needed to be. Total pain in the ass and very hard to make sound right.
Probably during those calculation mr. Nelson got a bit confused.
I have used a good '94 Ants Marching (Washington, DC - 11.08.1994, WH10 vol.11) as a time reference. Apparently, tracks are sped up 5-6% more then the actual velocity. Re-stretched all of them, with further adjustments to make them sound right to my ears. Applied a bit of compression, since I was there, and made MP3 ready to go.

    Have a listen:

I believe they have a multitrack of this show. Rusted Root was the opener, and I think they used their sound system. That's why some of the songs from the night before at the Lisner Auditorium show were able to be released on Warehouse discs, Rusted Root also opened that night.
Yes! A ‘94 show would be AMAZING in my book! And a fall ‘94 show with Get In Line!

Really loved this show and would love a show I attended to get released. However, I think there's a certain song that kept this one from being LT59.

There are not many 2016 shows without the new songs besides Gorge N3.

    One exception is Syracuse-

    http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...154&where=2016

The only question is would an early version of Samurai Cop get released? It has Sugar Will too, but that's been released on LT before.

Re: I Know I Know but... Next Live Trax Please

Personally i think the evolution of songs and getting earlier/weird/off versions is a lot of fun (I dig a good chuckle at the "ground beef" delivery on Grey Street LT 16). Its odd they are so picky about this stuff nowadays. Especially since some of them freely air over Sirius regularly. which that avenue seems to have given them another wind and influx of new fandom (more than the last 2 albums, Come Tomorrow or AFTW, I would say).

I wonder what the difference is in that they've released early versions of Proudest Monkey, #41, Don't Drink the Water, Pig, etc in the past. And then again we received official released live cuts of Idea of You, Shotgun, Can't Stop, Break Free, Sister, Corn Bread, Eh Hee, #27, etc really quick too at a time when those were currently being worked on for an album.

What is it with the 2015-16 and 2021 batch of material that's such a hold up?

My impression has been that they don't want to release them live before they're on the studio album. I know they didn't care about that in the past, but it seems it may be the case now?

I'm perfectly fine with that for the most part, like choosing Gorge N3 for the 2016 show. The problem you run into with it is songs like Bismarck and DOTHS got cut from the album... so, now will they just never release those songs if they don't ever make an album? If neither one of those songs makes the next album, they should move on from that strategy, and just release a 2016 show with both of them. Same goes for any other live songs that may miss the final track list for the next album.

This show should be released just for the #40 alone. Also first Dreaming Tree in 3 years-

    http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...=87&where=2006

In fact, both nights should be released. N1 had the only Stone of the tour and the debut of Idea Of You

If we get 4 Live Trax releases this year (which we almost always do) then we should get two releases released relatively quickly after LT 60 comes out.

I'd love more '06. Would be great if they selected something with Kill The King to compare to the Live In Atlantic City version.

Unless they release the new album. Then they'll pause it I think. I wonder if 60 will be the end. Similar to the DMBlive series, they'll just stop it with no information.

I doubt they will pause whatever plan right now or currently or stop the series as a whole in the near future in general. I would think they would move Live Trax to digital only for a few years before they would cut it off entirely.

We are on track for how pretty much every year is with 4 LT releases. I'd say the next LT probably will be an October release followed by the Late November/Early December release. Unless its another Dave & Tim double up for the December release, then you can count out the October one.

For me personally, I primarily listen to the early stuff. Sure, we have plenty of releases from 95-97, but there’s hardly anything at all from 92-94 outside of DMBLive. There’s some shows that just won’t ever see the Live Trax treatment, that’s where DMBLive comes in handy. Maybe one day they’ll resurrect this series, or start a different method of releasing these early 90s shows. I hope so.

    "so many other releases"

    Like?

We get 4 live trax albums on average a year. Maybe a vinyl reissue of an older one.

There is a free download show of the previous tour with Warehouse renewal nowadays (Which you've made clear are shows you don't give a rip about new stuff).

    What else is there?

Not an attack, I'm just generally curious. Am I forgetting stuff? Wouldn't you want more old stuff or Dave & Tim released via DMBLive?

dmblive only makes sense if it's shows we don't have recordings of or don't know about. Lots of the dmblive releases were shows that we already had soundboards of. Kinda silly to pay $10 or whatever for that, the shows aren't even multitrack recorded so they can't be mixed.

I agreed and a few really had no noticeable difference. I will say that Benaroya Hall and The Prism coffee house shows though were very nice to get physical copies of. They both sound amazing. The rest aren't worth paying for since they are just remastered tapes, but they didn't even really put effort into the remaster. They could have atleast used the plangent process.

There’s some shows that just won’t ever see the Live Trax treatment, that’s where DMBLive comes in handy. Maybe one day they’ll resurrect this series, or start a different method of releasing these early 90s shows. I hope so.
I love early DMB too. It's nice to have such a wide variety of sounds and love to compare what they were doing starting out vs the more recent shows. Amazing some of those songs were so finished in 1992.

The tapes do most of these shows justice IMO. They are typically soundboards which is what DMBlive is for non multi-track sources. If they wanted to charge like $5 a show for those early days, I would pay it just to have officially released versions of them but I can't tell the difference in the 1/27/93 show and the tape I have of it. In fact the tape sounds better because it's flac.

Why would more not be better? If there's more than you personally want then you can skip as many as you like but for lots of fans, if given a choice, would prefer more rather than less.
