The Corner of Grey Street Podcast

Hey everyone, so a buddy of mine and I decided to create a new DMB podcast that would dive deeper into the past, present, and future of the band. We will be discussing the most current DMB/D&T/whatever tour is going on and going back and reliving some of our favorite moments from the past. We plan on having a lot of discussion, show reviews, some interviews, and also playing a little music here and there as well. We are not here to compete with Matt and Joe and the AntsMarching.org Podcast or anything like that. They do a great job and will be doing different material and more relevant Ants.org news than we will as well. This is a wonderful and inclusive community where we'd love to flourish cohesively. We'd also love to have them on the show at some point and discuss how they became DMB fans, how this site came to be, what have been some of their favorite memories etc.

Anyways, our goal is to provide this diverse fanbase with a DMB podcast experience that is new and unique. This show will be having weekly episodes to provide instant reactions to the recent shows, discuss some of our favorite performances, and play some of that music for you. It will have episodes where we will take a trip back in time to rediscover some of DMB's finest moments, and break down why those are important and why we love them so much. Hopefully, we will play some music you have never heard before or just forgotten about and inspire you to check out some of the DMB gems of the past. We plan on being an interactive show and allowing fans to request some of their favorite songs, shows, months, years for us to discuss and preview on the podcast. The Corner of Grey Street will be an all encompassing show that is by fans and for the fans. We hope you will subscribe, rate, review, and most importantly enjoy our show.

A "Teaser" episode is already available and we plan on posting our first real episode tomorrow prior to the Camden weekend.

Re: The Corner of Grey Street Podcast

Cool, thanks for putting in time, energy, and effort to create something for DMB fans! I will check it out.

(And as he stated, I too love AntsMarching.org and all the time that Matt, Joe, Jake et al do and have put in as well, including especially the podcasts).

As soon as we get approved from Apple, it'll go up on Overcast very soon thereafter. Thanks for giving us a chance Matthew.

Hopefully it doesn't suck!

We tried to make it work, but couldn't this year. Hopefully the weekend is as good as the 2 years I've gone (2010, 2013)!

Re: The Corner of Grey Street Podcast

I'm about 30 min in. I really like your analysis on the St. Louis set and in particular Two Step. I agree that I'd prefer an absolutely garbage shitty sounding Two Step over a perfect version of the majority of the songs in rotation (including Stand Up, as you mentioned, lmao).

Also, with respect to walking out of an encore, I've done it several times. Unfortunately, I left Spac n2 in 2013 after the first encore and of course they played a double encore that night. I had just passed through the gates when they came back on.

They even messed up Stone from Iowa, but nailed it the next night!

Letís just say that my walking out was not a sober decision

We generally will walk out during what we think is the last song, usually to beat traffic. Left SPAC 2016 during the Two Step > Halloween transition. We've heard Halloween a lot recently, so we preferred to get to bed earlier that night. We left Gorge N3 last year after Butterfly/during the Watchtower intro - an absolutely GREAT decision to skip out on Cornbread closing

There's only a handful of songs that I'd be upset about missing on these days, and they're so unlikely to be played that I generally don't regret missing 1-2 songs if it means I can avoid traffic and get home safely without hassle.

Halloween is overrated in my opinion. These days it sounds like a wall of sound. There is a part in the beginning that they donít play anymore. I think it may have been Boyd. Itís on the studio version and it adds a lot to the song. Even when Boyd was in the band they werenít playing it.

Will I take it at a show? Yes, because there is a lot of emotion in it and a nice build up, but is it my first choice in an encore? Not even close.

Yeah, they haven't had the violin intro in the song in a LONG while. Maybe going back to 07? Last I can recall hearing it was Weekend on the Rocks.

The song gets hyped for its rarity. But I've caught it pretty much every tour I've attended. Best one was my first - SPAC '09; the tease in the encore, then thinking Watchtower closed, only to hear Carter still drumming lightly, and then BAM - Halloween!

After that, it hasn't wowed me. The double encore in '13 was cool though. Balcony was shaking and bouncing big time

That was my first time hearing it as well. Another version that comes to mind that I really enjoyed was D&T at the Oakdale in Wallingford CT in 2011. It was my first D&T show and the first time Halloween had been played D&T since 1999. It was brought upon by a crowd chant after Dave told a story about his kids on Halloween.

http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...114&where=2011

As a side note, I will be in the SPAC balcony for the first time ever on N1 this year. Been going to spac since 2008 and somehow have never been in the balcony. Looking forward to it.
