Do ya'll really think an album will be coming in the next few months (before April)? I just find that hard to believe. I think they will announce in January along with a potential late summer tour (July on because of COVID, maybe later) and you get a copy of the album when you purchase a ticket (which will get them the #1 spot again when the album is released). I think the album will be released in April at the earliest. DMB has always been a company band that refuses to anything out of the ordinary like drop an album out of nowhere. I hope you all are right, but I just don't see it happening.

I thought I read somewhere that giving the album away in exchange for a concert ticket sale will no longer count towards an album purchase. Can someone confirm?

They are no longer counting towards album sales

Plus, the 2021 tour is already announced and tickets have already been sold. At this point, there’s no guarantee the tour can even happen. It’s a different time we are living in now, so anything is possible in terms of a release & promotion.

Yeah I think the album comes out right around the scheduled start of 21 tour whether the tour is on or not. The band hasn't done anything this year to make any real money for themselves. An album is a way to generate some money for the band.

I wasn't aware of this. Thank you for sharing.

I still don't have faith that the band will surprise us with an album, but it'd be awesome if they did. Really hope I'm wrong.

I would look into what they’ve said and done recently. We’re almost definitely getting an album in the next several months.

I hope we get one, I really do. But the track record on knowing sessions were happening versus something being released in the last 15 years isn't great.

If it doesn’t come to pass, we can look forward to The Evans Sessions 12ish years from now.

I can't remember from previous new recording sessions, but aren't they usually pretty hush hush about it? And most certainly Dave isn't talking about it all over the place, right?

So, this feels different from that perspective. Obviously this "feeling" doesn't mean a damned thing, but it's there nonetheless.

Yeah this feels different. Dave has never been this open about sessions before they were announced. He has repeatedly said we have a surprise for you. Obviously lots can happen but I'd be surprised if we didn't get a release in 2021 with or without a normal tour

    Re: New Album Coming Soon?

A big reason for that hush hush is what happened with the Lillywhite sessions in 2000, the reception over how the Everyday sessions were handled, the talk about the '04 sessions, and so on. When sessions are talked about and don't pan out, it's just no good. They have been really good about keeping the lid on things since, but if sessions have been happening outside of a home studio or Haunted Hollow they've been at least known about. This year it's hard not to over share.

And the studio version had a nice sound to it, would have been the best song off Come Tomorrow.

    Re: New Album Coming Soon?

I did a little digging and have been thinking about the 2015 Cavallo sessions in LA a bit. I've been especially interested in the big horn section that was put together and recorded with but is only heard on Sam Cop and Again and Again so far. It's interesting bc Rashawn and Jeff made it a big deal on social media to be recording with this monster horn section but we've only heard two of the tunes so far.

On Rashawn's instagram I came across this brass chart (title covered) that he posted recently from the 2015 sessions and I plugged it into notation software to give it a listen. It sounds like nothing I've heard from DMB before. I found some clips of what sounds like them rehearsing other parts of that tune from 2015 in the studio on Rashawn's insta. I'm pretty sure all of the clips on insta are of this tune because the man directing mentions changing the F# to F (it's written in GM) and the tempo is almost exactly 104bpm which is listed on the chart. If you listen closely you can actually hear the drum beat through their headphones which makes it even more interesting. Worst case it's not the same tune so plus or minus the drum beat below is what the chart sounds like (drive link bc I had trouble uploading files):

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...xD?usp=sharing

Who knows if this tune will reappear, but figured I'd share for fun

Come Tomorrow could’ve been a lot better. Didn’t one studio cut of That Girl Is You originally have the jam at the end? That’s really the only redeeming quality of the song live lol

Grace Potter was also brought into the studio to do some vocals (Rashawn or her posted a pic together) and that never showed up on CT.

while i actually enjoy the song normally, the jam is real nice, and i would've killed to have that on the album version

agreed. never understood the calculus for truncated studio cuts. My heart still weeps for B&BB. would have loved to hear a studio version of the performance from the Dave Letterman thing... absolutely love that version.

my favorite version as well, was pretty disappointed to have the shortened studio cut, although i do still enjoy it.

    Re: New Album Coming Soon?

We've heard that the Cavallo 2015 album was basically done- which is crazy because it may mean we've got another Lillywhite Sessions out there. The clips from that time really made it seem horn-tastic, which Rob Cavallo was excellent at. I hope one day we hear this scrapped album, because Cavallo really should have gotten another legitimate shot to produce this band.

I wonder how far the album traveled and how many people heard it or have it.
