Here we go, 1st 2019 numbers that I've seen, anyway.

For some lame as fuck reason, Billboard only posts the top 50 boxscores now, whereas there used to be hundreds every week, right down to the smallest club shows with only 30 people, etc. I'm sure there are several other DMB shows that didn't make the top 50, but I have no idea how to come across that information.

So there you have it. Attendance is definitely down across the board. I don't really think any of these shows will be on the chopping block for next year, except maybe Alpine/Tinley will possibly be switched out for Northerly Island / Summerfest. The Riverbend show looked packed when I was there, but who knows, there could've been only 12,000 people there. People on the lawn tend to spread out and fill the space available.

Another thing; Hootie is also on that list some. Their capacity for Bristow is 21,000, while DMB's capacity is 24,000. So things like that happen.

And I wouldn't be doing my job unless I included a Phish comparison at the same venues.
Alpine x3- 54,183 / 107,266.
Camden x3- 52,383/63,036.
SPAC x2- 35,878 - Pretty similar to DMB's #

I was under the impression that Alpine doesn't hold 35k anymore, that they are a 25k venue now.

Thought that was only when they offered onsite camping, which took up a bunch of the parking spaces, requiring the lower 25k capacity

Oh ok, they had camping for dmb so it should read as 50k not 70k. I wasnt sure if it was an every show thing.

Agree, the two nighters seem way lower than they should be.

Also feel like Hartford could be low too. I though they played that N2 of the Mansford because it out sold mansfield? Would love to see Mansfield start getting the N2 though.

Its all becasue the venue/town have no idea what theyre doing. Instead of shutting down 140 for like an hour and half they stop the venue traffic from exiting to let thru traffic by. Its so dumb. Also dumb that they just dont build an exit right to 495. Its literally right there.

It's so bad, I live in the North Shore and it takes me longer to get home from a show in Mansfield than it does to drive back from SPAC.

There was no onsite camping at Alpine this year. I believe 2015 was the one and only time they did that.

Wow. Then those numbers are pretty bad, still made a ton of money and made it to 2nd on this list. So maybe there is hope Alpine continues yearly.

I mean, it was the second highest attended 2-nighter of the tour. The capacity of the venue doesn't change how many tickets they sold or how much money they made.

Alpine's lawn is so big and I think because of that people have this assumption that if they don't sell 36,000 tickets per show that its some kind of huge failure and they won't go back there. . It just has a bigger lawn than most other venues. 35K people is 35K people regardless of the capacity of the venue.

The biggest factor in the band returning to Alpine is simply Alpine remaining open. (And there are good signs on that front as they hosted more shows at the venue this year than they have in nearly a decade.) As long as Alpine is there for them to play, they'll continue to play it regularly with perhaps a gap once every 3-4 years if they end up playing Summerfest. If you remove the 2 years where there was no tour at all (2011 and 2017), they've only missed playing Alpine twice, and those were the two years they headlined Summerfest (2014 and 2018.)

Camden seems off, I can't believe that many people showed up.

Alpine just has a freakishly large lawn. From the looks of it, a little lopsided as well. Somebody said that with Alpine, Friday has 15K and Saturday had 20K, which jives with these numbers. That's still really good! They're filling all the pavilion seats at most of the shows, and then the lawn people just spread out to fill the space available. If these were arenas, and there were that many unsold tickets, it would just look like a bunch of empty seats in the upper levels. Instead, these shows are in amphitheaters with lawns, and appear sold out. As long as they keep pulling in numbers like this, they'll keep coming. But really, I think they should consider lowering the lawn tickets a little bit. Do 4 for $100 type of deals.

I remember in 2017 I saw Kings of Leon with some friends at Riverbend. The place looked absolutely packed. Come to find out, there were only 12,000 / 20,000 tickets sold! On the other hand, I saw U2 in 1997 (my first concert at 15 years old) at the Ohio State Football Stadium in Columbus. It looked like a gigantic swath of seats were unsold, and there were... but the crowd was still 45,000 people or so. That stadium is just so enormous that 45K looked like poor attendance. So it can be very difficult to judge audience size by just looking at it.

This is a total of what Billboard is reporting this week. We still don't have individual boxscores outside of what I already posted, but there are some interesting points here.

Everything they reported this week earned them $26,502,827
Their overall attendance was 368,795 / 533,158
The only shows that were completely sold out were Des Moines, Toronto, Charlotte and Alpharetta. Nashville isn't on this list, but I believe that show also was sold out.

This whole, “I don’t believe these numbers” thing needs to stop. As I understand it, these are official numbers given by the promoters. I fully understand the lawn, “looked full” when you were at whatever show, but looking full and being full are two entirely different things. The numbers are down, and in some cases way down. Having said that, the band is still making money and have every ability to keep touring for the time being. The Hartford numbers are the most interesting to me. What was once two nights with total or near sell outs is now almost 10k short of a one night sell out. I would assume another round of venue cuts, and possible two to one night changes, for 2020.

Sold out the Jack Singer early in the year, than came back and played the Saddledome and attendance was about 3,000. They’ve never come back
