    Pablo Honey - Radiohead
    The Bends - Radiohead

    It’s astounding these two records were made by the same band, let alone back to back. I think I maybe listened to Pablo Honey once or twice in college, and so listening to it today was as if I had never heard any of it before besides Creep. It’s not terrible, and probably gets more trashed than deserved just because of the body of work that followed it, but it is an utterly forgettable prog rock album otherwise.

    The Bends is also an album I haven’t listened to in sometime, but I will revisit it every so often, and it has always ranked high among my favorite Radiohead albums. I think I have an even greater appreciation for it after today though. I can’t think of any other band that marked this much of an improvement from their first album to their second - it’s just an unbelievably fantastic record from top to bottom that is far more confident than their first outing. Blows my mind how they jumped from basically being a middle of the road garage band to the start of being one of the best bands of all time in a mere two years.

    I've been listening to this quite a bit today too. Not grabbing me as a whole album quite as much as Cardinal did, but there are some real gems on it.
