Considering pulling the trigger on one of these, so I backread this thread. Pretty compelling.
No but I could be their poster boy. My results have been amazing. Good thing I didn't listen to some of the early posters in this thread.

Any questions, ask away! 3 teachers at my school have gotten one since I lost all that weight.

I'm getting the tread next week! Love my bike, excited to have another option of workouts with the pelo-team! Their bootcamp classes are awesome!

I mean, I don't think anyone told you flat out not to get it. It's great that it has motivated you, though.

Just backread again and Rodey was most definitely a negative nancy about the idea No, nobody said "don't do it" but it was highly suggested that you should do something else, or that you wouldn't stick with it. Good for you!

I have a cheap shit basic stationary bike someone gave me that I *want* to ride, and I have a bunch, but it just sucks and is uncomfortable and the tension adjustment doesn't work, so I'm not very motivated to ride it. I'm personally not going to go for a Peloton, but I'm thinknig if I had a halfway decent working and comfortable stationary, I would be a lot more motivated to ride it. I say the same thing about the real bike I have vs. what I would like to have.

Never said (that I recall) he wouldn't stick with it.

Just stated that there are cheaper ways of essentially accomplishing the same experience (which is a fact). Glad the OP has found success with it, though.

In all the nay-sayers defense, the odds were in their favor. if everyone who said they wanted to workout and lose weigt actually did it, the US wouldn't have a 40% obesity rate (or whatever it is).

That is definitely true. It"s one reason that the Peloton has been so successful. It found a way to get some people who wanted to exercise but couldn't quite get started or sustain it (like me) to actually begin and maintain a quality program. And it doesn't feel like drudgery. It really is fun and certainly fulfilling.

It'd be intetesting to know/see the results of Peloton owners as opposed to similar home machines (treadmill, stairmaster, elliptical, bowflex, etc...) in terms of purchasers using the machines and/or success with health goals.

It'd be interesting. I'm not sure the numbers would be that skewed or anything. There are so many subscription apps that offer "personal training," which is essentially what the Peloton is, but Peloton is visual.

Will do. I ran on it once in NYC back in May in a 60 min bootcamp class and it kicked my ass. haha

    Glad you've had success!

Noles -- Jess King did an Elton John ride last Saturday. I havent done it yet but heard it was a great one. Ill be doing On Demand this weekend for sure.

I've fallen off the workout wagon a bit due to being sick and then on vacation and holidays. Need to get my butt back in gear!

I'll check it out. Robin did a Greatest Showman ride and my wife has done it a few times. She loves it.

I'm at 292 rides right now. Aiming to make 300 one of Alex's rides on Monday.

OP, I know the initial answer was "no interest', but now that you are riding consistently... any interest in becoming a cyclist out in the real world? Either a road bike, or maybe a cyclocross bike for some mixed surface fun? Almost nothing better than a proper outdoor road ride.

Really lame question, but how comfortable is it? Any complaints from that end? I've been on bikes at the gym that my ass just can't sit on for long periods of time. It's honestly one of the biggest factors resisting me getting a Peloton.

Another question: what exactly do you get with the "Peloton" membership for $39/month? And how is that different than their digital membership for $19/month?

None. I play golf so that is how I enjoy the outdoors. One of the things that I like most about riding is to be able to see my heartrate on the screen and see the number of calories being burned as I ride. This thing was exactly what I was looking for.

What I hear from most people (and it was like this for me) is that your butt hurts after the first few rides and then never again.

You get the interaction between your bike and the screen. Your screen displays the following: heart rate, cadence, resistance, output (current level and total for the ride), calories, leaderboard (all time and current riders). I don't think you get any of that with the app.

There may be other differences but I have only had the regular membership so I'm not 100% certain.

Thanks. Is it a safe assumption that the Peloton membership gets you everything you'd get with their digital membership?

I would think so but I'm not really informed on what comes with the digital membership.

No worries. I'm going to visit the Peloton showroom at the Mall of America this weekend. I'll be able to climb onto one to test my ass comfort and will inquire on the memberships. The only other factor that could stop me from getting one is my tiny ass apartment. Not sure if I want this machine taking up what little room I have. It would be a bummer that that alone would stop me but it's a reality.

I'm sure you could always replace the saddle with something more comfortable.

Is this really worth it? My GF likes spin classes but $40/month is pretty steep
