Re: Radiohead Discussion

Oh and Pyramid song is not in 4/4 but 9/8 and 6/8. If you listen carefully you will hear it. I saw a piano part for it and that was the time signature.

nah I am sure pyramid song is 4/4 - its just split and sewn back together really awkwardly. Same with mxyomatosis I think.

The Salmanca concert was awesome, I love that version of Big Ideas. Plus the cover of the Thief by Can was incredible. Thom's voice owned that song

Glastonbury 2003 is amazing. Oh and I saw them here in Utah, and I'm almost ashamed to admit, on these boards even, but wow they totally blew DMB out of the water at the concert. I mean DMB can jam tons better than them, but the mood they set and the amazing energy wow.

My favorite in albumn order goes the same as a previous poster:

Kid A (Every time I listen to this album, I have this feeling that I have listend to a perfect albumn
OK Computer (This is the albumn that got me hooked in the first place. Beautiful album, would recommend listening to it all through)
Amnesiac (Hated it at first, now I love it. It's all the chaos that didn't fit Kid A.)
Hail to the Theif ( A little poliitcal for me, but still great. There There is one of my all time favorites)
Pablo Honey ( A little gem, but I think I enjoy it more when I hear Christopher O'Rielly play it then Radiohead [unless it's live!])

    On OKC songs:
I love Climbing up the walls, it's haunting sounds is amazing, and the feedback at the end, wow.
    Lucky is just classic.
Let Down amazing 5/4 4/4 beat, I wish they knew how to play this more in concert.
Exit music is wonderful as well.
I don't think people give Fitter Happier enough credit, although the song is disturbing, it's amazing how they took some pretty bland prose, put it through a bland computer, added some ambient noise, and it makes you want to cry and go call your mommy because you are so scared. I Actually find that it's power is pointing out how in life we seem to get stuck in a rut and we ignore those things happening around us.

I have probably close to 30 concerts if any one is interested in a trade. And yes I have the full Glastonbury '97. And the Salamonaca concert where they took requests, and a ton of others. Jealous? I'd be happy to share. (DVD's as well)
I'm a huge fan of O'Rielly as well, I can't decide which song I'm most in love with on that album though...

personally, i think o'rielly does the newer songs (kid a - current) and the more "ambient-sounding" songs a little bit better than some of the more straight forward rocker songs from the bends and ok computer

    I love Radiohead.

For the last 3 or 4 days, I've been listening to nothing but Amnesiac and Kid A (I feel like they flow best in this order, like one long album) with a little I Might Be Wrong thrown in occasionally, just to spice things up.

nlaposta1 mentioned that Kid A and Amnesiac were originally going to be one huge (double?) album. While I do enjoy listening to them together now, it took a little time for them to "click" with me individually. I probably would have been overwhelmed by one monster of an album. Plus, I think they stand on their own pretty well.

Kid A and Amnesiac... the Kill Bill's of music?

What radiohead basically said (Not sure which member said it) is that they had all these songs, and didn't want it to be like the Beatles White album, which, although its a great double album, would have been twice as good had they trimmed the fat a bit. So that's what radiohead did, they put out one single album. But yeah, all of the Kid A and Amnesiac songs were recorded in the same recording period... they just released amnesiac a few years later.

I got into Radiohead WAY too late... so I have no EPs, no B-sides, nothing. I did buy Com Lag though and that's awesome, its got alternate takes on myxomatosis and a long version of there there. and fog and wicked child are both good songs too.

Yeah Remyxomatosis is cool. The best song on Com Lag, in my opinion, is Paperbag Writer. The new version of I Will is also pretty nice

And How did I forget Gagging Order? Awesome Lyrics. I love Thom's little songs, Gagging Order, Fog, Big Ideas, True Love Waits. Those are all awesome songs.

    I know what you're thinking
    But I'm not your property
    No matter what you say
    No matter what you say

Move along, there's nothing left to see
Just a body, nothing left to see

    A couple more for breakfast
    A little more for tea
Just to take the edge off
Just to take the edge off

Move along, there's nothing left to see
Just a body, pouring down the street

Move along, theres nothing left to see
Just a body, nothing left to see

    Move along

I guess I'm a little spoiled with the openness DMB has with their studio work, touring information, etc...But does anyone else get frustrated with how little word we hear from Radiohead when they're not on tour?

oddly enough, i don't mind radiohead not being as open. part of the reason dmb is so open has less to do with the kind of musicians they are (i know they really ARE open guys who have been sharing with their fans since before they were famous) and a lot more to do with record label marketing. i appreciate that radiohead doesn't cave into that pressure, despite being wildly popular.

Someone should read the April/May 2005 Relix Magazine. Specifically the article about Bonnaroo. Apparently, Radiohead is performing at Bonnaroo this year. Apparently, after i read that, i had to change my pants because they got very sticky.
