Jealous of Greensky Bluegrass NYE. That will be a blast, such a fun show.

Discovered their music about 4-5 years ago but have yet to catch them live. I figure NYE should make for a fantastic first live show

I still cant get into bluegrass really, ive heard great things about greensky but it just doesnt click for me. Theyre here the same night as Mike Gordon Band. I only like billy strings because of the psychedelic elements of his play.

A lot of what I grew up listening to had touches of bluegrass throughout. When I discovered greensky and their brand of “jam-grass” I was hooked on it

got Alanis tix today for Mansfield. They are the seats in the old lawn section, Sec 14 and they cost $80 a piece before fees, $200 for two with fees. The upper covered level were going for between $110 a ticket and $140 a ticket. Not sure why they were priced so high.

Some of the ticket prices I've seen so far for 2020 are insane. And the market is absolutely saturated with acts to choose from. If the majority of these shows sell well, the concert industry may just carry the economy through the next couple of years.

$80 for lawn distance seats??? Sheesh! Here I am trying to not feel justified for spending $250 (per seat) for Elton John floor seats.

Got a couple good ones lined up already.

April 18 2020 - Trevor Hall - Phoenix Concert Theatre, Toronto - including soundcheck access, laminate keepsake, signed CD and meet and greet (all for US$110/ticket)
May 23 2020 - EMF and Jesus Jones - Danforth Music Hall, Toronto - Jesus Jones first concert in Canada since 1993. Only CDN$50/ticket for GA Floors all fees included (about US$37.50)

Fucking Alanis tickets in Toronto, she's got "Platinum" seats in the 15th row of the SECOND section back from the stage for CDN$825/each and third row for CDN$1100 (US$820) each. No meet and greet, just straight ticket. Fucking bullshit man, even Elton John isn't charging that much.

Double-headliner, following the what many other artists are charging these days, testing what the market will allow...

They may go down though. When I took my parents to see the Last Waltz 2019 tour I kept delaying buying the ticket and the prices kept going down. I ended up saving more than $100 bucks by waiting...it might be worth it to do the same for this show, although you are likely to miss out on the more desirable seats.

But I know there are a lot of Alanis and Garbage fans out there. And if they're early fans, there's a belief they'r elikely to have the interest and income to swing these prices, not unlike say...I don't know...DMB fans?

I cant imagine they fill up pavilions easily at those price points though. It wont struggle like the black crowes tour will to fill but it wont be far behind that methinks

This is what I'm doing with several shows I'm hitting next year (Kiss, Doobie Brothers). There's so many empty seats I know if I can hold out a few months they'll be so much cheaper than they are now.

I've even found some good deals on Groupon on shows like this. I saw Heart last year from a Groupon deal for $25. Ticket was original $54.

Doobies and maybe Black Crowes for me...I would love to see them, but they can’t cut significantly into my Avetts and DMB tickets...

If you're talking about Alanis, I thought the same thing. Figured I'd wait for TM to drop the price to dump all the extras. I was wrong. The pavilion is sold out except for a few random singles. Because of that demand, they raised the price of lawn from $43.50 to $63.50. I will not be attending.

Got free tickets to an Alanis show like 15 years ago. Only went to see the opener, who I remembered being either Howie Day or Jason Mraz. While pulling ticket stubs to complete my lifetime showlist, turns out it was actually Ryan Adams. Funny that he was forgettable because 10 years later I fell in love with his sound, and I never knew I had already seen him. Alanis was a joke though. Her only "move" was to run around the stage in big circles, really fast. Strange show and the place was half full at best. Surprised to see such demand.

    As of right now:

    Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit : 1/3 Huntsville
    Alter Bridge : 2/11 Huntsville
    The Lumineers : 5/13 Tuscaloosa
    Taylor Swift : 8/1 Foxborough
    Vampire Weekend : 10/7 Birmingham

Maybe DMB if they play Oak Mountain, otherwise probably won't catch them in 2020.

I might be in the minority, but I like Alanis live and the fact she'll probably play the whole album is almost worth the price of admission. Thank U is my favorite Alanis song. But when you kick in Garbage, then for me I'm in. Just surprised the seats in the lawn were $80. Actual lawn in Mansfield are $50 before fees. Liz Phair is playing too.

I've never seen her live and would really like to, especially if that album is going to get heavy play. I'm just not willing to spend what she's charging. Not willing to pay what DMB is charging these days either, so there's that.

I ain't payin no $80 for lawn seats to Alanis Morissette in 2020.

I saw her open for DMB in '99, when she guested on DDTW but not Spoon for reasons that I will never understand.

I'm hoping Alanis shows up on the $20 lawn deal.

Against Me! is coming to town in March. I've been wanting to see them for a while now. Pretty excited for that.

That's my hope as well; it's the only way I'll go. But given how well the pavilion sold and the subsequent raising of the lawn price, I'm not holding out a whole lot of hope.

anyone ever hear of a Mira Goto? I discovered her accidentally on Periscope like a year ago looking for live music and she performs on scope every now and again. I guess you would call it pop country music but she's pretty good.
