***Official VA Beach/SITW Festival Thread***

I'll be 33 by this festival should not be attending but you never know.

Does anyone know how to attend without purchasing a 3-day pass? It looks like the only way to go for one day is to buy the pass for the entire festival. Not sure I can afford that just for one night.

They might no do single day passes. DMB is a way to move some tickets. $150 for GA beach show isn't that bad considering the regular lowers...right?

Not my music scene but it's a solid lineup and price for anyone into more hip/hop artists.

I do a lot of work with Pharrell and he’s gone about this the right way. The thing is, that weekend is notorious around here for not so positive things. (6 people shot last year). Ignoring that, I think this is going to go pretty well.

We go to VA Beach five to 10 times a year, almost exclusively during the "off" season...which keeps getting shorter and shorter. Our boys (the oldest will be freshly 15 and our youngest is eight) are with us every time we go...we love it.

Anyway, would you suggest avoiding this weekend and event with our family? I'm fine with the music, but (as I've posted previously) I'm not enthusiastic about the college crowds and the history of violence. That said, several of the stories prior to the official announcement stated that the city and organizers were working heavily on the safety issues...

They just announced that the festival sold out today. I wasn't planning to go anyway...but still feels strange to know they are playing like 15 minutes down the road from home and we won't be there. Too many bad incidents down at the beach during this weekend over the past few years. Not worth the risk/hassle unfortunately

Per the schedule DMB has only been allotted 1:25...I know Dave's repaying the favor for Pharrell doing the C-ville show, but they should get a little more stage time. That said, they are different from almost everyone else playing there. Given the target audience I'm interested to see what kind of set they'll play. A greatest hits might not serve them as well as keeping it grooving and funky...

They are tonight...night 1, but there is another act on after them. Certainly not a bigger act, but one that will appeal to the partying co-eds.

These would odd choices for what's primarily a r&b, hip-hop, & pop line-up. Not that DMB is going to cater to that, but a 15 minute JT isn't something a lot of their fans really wanna hear these days, let alone a bunch of 72-hour partying college students.

Unable to enlighten yourself? You can't think about the catalog and pick songs that have an r&b feel, funkier grooves, tunes that get asses moving?
