My assumption is that, unless you’re staying at a hotel with its own lot, parking will be impossible during this weekend. It’s already a pain in the neck on any nice summer day.

Pretty limited. There's mostly side street parking and surrounding municipal lots. Not much.

I live locally and attended this awesome festival last year. I'm arriving here a little late but am happy to help answer any questions that haven't been yet.
Last year was the first year of this festival and it was fantastic. Everything exceeded my expectations last year for a festival in it's first year.
Set up is three stages. Two main stages on the beach and a third off the boardwalk in the park at the back of Convention Hall. Moving between stages throughout the fest was a breeze. For DMB's set, as a headliner, there will be no competing sets. As such, the main beach stage area will get crowded. Someone above said to post up an hour before set time to get a decent spot someplace ahead of the soundboard and I'd agree with that. The sound was great. No issue with sound coming from other stages and the sound at whatever stage you're at will be solid.
I recommend bringing in with you a draw string bag to carry a few things. (website will say to bring this type of bag, security did give people issues with normal strap back packs - Note once inside security was no hassle). There are water stations to refill water bottles so def. take advantage and bring refillable bottle. Blanket/towel. (flask). Hat. Sunscreen. Etc. There are some good food options although the concession lines did get long. I'm hoping they improve this this year because last year it was a little frustrating getting a beer or snack. Aside from this small issue the festival was fantastic. The town is great. I highly recommend making a long weekend out of it. Have fun in Asbury, there's a ton of great restaurants on the boardwalk and Cookman Ave./Bangs Ave. then enjoy the festy. Can't wait for summer!!

I usually go to Asbury a couple of times each summer, and each time parking is a bit of a headache (just like any area near the shore). So far it seems like there is no good answer on what to do for parking, which will probably be the normal headache I experience when visiting Asbury amplified by a thousand. Is there any secret tip that a local can provide on a pain-free parking experience?

Hotel availability here sucks the big one. I'm paying more for one night at a motel 6 than it would probably cost for a week without the festival but staying the weekend! Looking forward to the rest of the bands announcement.

    Re: *** Official Asbury Park NJ - Sea.Hear.Now 2019***

I wish I had some solid tips for parking in the area as a local but there just aren't many options. Quick example of how bad it is, my fiance and I were out yesterday and wanted to grab a bite in town (on Cookman Ave.) before heading home. It was around 6 p.m. We decided since we were in the car already to just drive into town versus going home and getting an Uber as we usually would. Parking was so tough to find we wound up driving home after circling a while and taking an Uber in anyway.

While these may not be tips maybe it can help with some ideas. The train station in Asbury is walking distance to the venue. If you put it in maps it will give you a 1.2 mile walk from the station to Convention Hall. If there is any way you can take a train into town I would do that. Even driving to the closest station that is along this line (NJ Coast Line or NE Corridor/Trenton Local should have transfers) would help. You could always park a few miles away and hop in an Uber from wherever you park. Drive 2-3 miles outside of Asbury (I'd say go North) and you shouldn't have an issue with street parking and can Uber or walk it into town. Have a car with a bike rack then this is 100% what you should do. Nearby towns like Loch Arbor, Allenhurst, Deal etc. will have street parking available (usually for free) and a few mile bike ride there is nothing.

Hope that helps a little. Sorry I hadn't checked back in a while. I'll check more often and help as much as I can answering questions.

everything seems to be booked in Asbury Park, anyone have a line on a decent hotel in the vicinity or a nearby town where i could look for an airbnb that's not at shore-town prices?

I booked a room at Point Pleasant beach. Sand Pebble Motor Lodge. It's a 20 minute train ride to Ashbury Park. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the beach motel with great reviews.

Off the top of my head the Sheraton on Rt. 35 may not be a bad choice. As for the fest you'll be there most of the day anyway so doesn't matter if your hotel isn't in the 'beachy' part of the shore. Sheraton is about 5 miles from the venue, should be reasonably priced and a 15min uber ride away.

What are the odds that some of the artists from last year are back this year? Very unlikely right?

Yeah really excited to see what they throw together this year especially after the success of last year.
While I'd love to see some of the acts from last year return (ie., Lettuce, Ben Harper, G-Love etc.) there's a lot of potential out there. I'm sure we each have our own tastes and hopes of who may show up. It'd be cool to have Gov't Mule added, would certainly lend nicely for a sit-in w/ DMB. Really don't even know where to start with guesses, it was a diverse lineup last year and I'm expecting much of the same mix but have my fingers crossed for more jam-centric acts

It's interesting that they label Jake Clemons as "Musician In Residence". Do we think it's possible he'll sit in with DMB?

Incredible energy and a hardcore fan base; they were sold out for almost their entire winter tour in 1-3k venues.
