I am wondering the same thing about parking. It looks I'll be making my first visit to DC (pending warehouse ticket outcome) and am wondering if Premium Parking is worth it?

Parking is free and plentiful and tailgating is pretty good at deer creek. Getting out is better than it used to be, but can still take a while--that's half the fun sometimes. Premium parking is great if you want to get right out after the show.

We always try to get there as the parking gates behind the stage open so we can possibly get placed in the grass parking compared to the gravel lots.
Hamilton Town Center isn't walkable (well, not really) but is ~5 mins away and there are tons of shops and restaurants/bars.

We never do premium parking and always get out pretty quickly. Not worth it to me. DC does a great job of getting people out. Just don't park behind the venue.

Green Acres has showers, sells ice and firewood, has port-a-potties, and provides drinking water. There are usually food vendors, though it's not directly provided by the campground so I suppose that's not guaranteed.

I've never done Dead Creek but I know it's definitely a fan favorite as well. Pretty similar, but based on the pictures it seems like it's a little smaller or more crowded than Green Acres and less tree cover. Dead Creek is closer and walkable (I think? About a half mile?)

That is my main tip.... get there early and park on the westside in front of the venue. I have done this pretty much every time over the years and am usually out of the lots in 10-15 minutes.

Really? I've always parked behind the venue and have gotten out quick every time. The one time I parked on the west side of the venue it took well over an hour to get out.

I checked into Dead Creek on their Facebook etc and it seems a bit cramped still, not as bad as sleepybear though. I think we’ll opt for Green Acres this year. Just looking for a place with some room to spread out but still be around DMB fans

I was at Dead Creek last year and they were maybe at 70% capacity.

I've been there other years where its totally filled. Where you can't even drive out if you needed to.

I'm glad they have moved the concert date up. Last year the temps were great for camping. Hopefully campers get lucky again this year with the weather.

Multiple time Dead Creek camper here (4 times I think). Overall, highly recommend!

Last year there was plenty of space compared to years prior where it was pretty much completely full. The owner (ironically named Dave) is a huge deadhead and friendliest guy ever! Usually makes his way through the grounds each day to visit with everyone. Definitely a no hassle environment. The best part is it's about a 10-15 minute walk from campsite to inside the venue. Perfect distance for a beer on the way and a nice pre-show stroll. They do have a shuttle as well I believe "for a reasonable fee" which we actually took last year because my fiance' was still recovering from ankle surgery.

The vibe is definitely a party atmosphere but nothing super crazy. Dave runs a really smooth operation for the most part and just wants to make sure everyone has a good time. Just for context, I've never camped at any of the other campgrounds so can't really make comparisons unfortunately. But I can say I always look forward to returning to Dead Creek. Unfortunately, I've moved to MN, and if I make it this year will probably a last minute decision. Doing Alpine and maybe Nashville too so it's tough geographically now and also being the week before Alpine this year.

If you have any questions about Dead Creek, I'll do my best to answer them. Cheers!

We always do this and are out VERY quick. DC does a great job of getting people out quickly. Plus the tailgating scene is pretty cool in the westside parking lot.

It took us 45 minutes last year to get out when we parked behind the venue. It was awful

Excited for my first Creekend this year! Pops loves Indy so we are staying in the city N0 on Thursday and doing St. Elmo's dinner and drinks/music at his favorite spot The Slippery Noodle. Really looking forward to the trip with him.

    Hey guys,

I booked sleepybear but is there any drawbacks to it? Are they strict there? I feel like ive seen some mixed reviews in the past.

Any other campgrounds suggested? Most have shuttles to the venue right?

Depends what style of camping you're used to and what you're looking to get out of it. Show up early N0 to be sure to get your pick of spots. Some have shade but most do not. The shade spots were all taken when we got there N0 around 1PM last year.

The good is that you are right across the street from the venue. I mean you could throw a rock and hit somebody in the parking lot. The walk to and from after the show was very easy.

The bad is cramped locations, cold "showers" and portapotties that were hit and miss. But, that's pretty standard for this style of camping so it is what it is. They did have ice for sale and some small food options as well. For the most part the staff were pretty hands off, except when one person in our group brought back a woman from the show and she did not have a wristband showing she was camping there.. they kind of went full hardo to seek her out and kick her out..

Sleepybear is the closest to the venue, but it's also the smallest/most crowded. You will generally be packed in pretty tight, so if you're looking for space/shade/quiet at all, it's probably not your best bet.

Dead Creek is a bit further out, but you can still walk to the venue if you want (15 min walk or so?) . More space than Sleepybear but can still get crowded depending on how many people are there. If you backread a little there have been some comments on how some years it's completely packed in but last year wasn't quite so bad.

Green Acres has the most space and room to spread out. There tends to be a more "party" scene in the forwardmost area when you first drive in on the left, but as you move back there is tons of open area and shaded area to set up a more private site and be able to spread out, which is what we usually do. Of these 3 this is the only one that isn't really walkable to the venue, but they do typically have a shuttle. It's about a 5 minute drive from the campground to the venue. Privately owned, very chill atmosphere, "no hassle" campground, as they say.

Any other campgrounds suggested? Most have shuttles to the venue right?
I've stayed at Sleepybear and hated how crowded it was with no shade. Lots of Ants stay at Dead Creek and give good reviews. I've stayed at Backstage the last 10 years. Backstage is loaded with shaded areas and clean portolets and the people running it are very lax. They have a shuttle that's included as well. No vendors so it's a bit more primative, but that's what I enjoy. Highly recommend it.

It will be hard to top the camping weather we had last year. Prepared to sweat it out like normal this year. Maybe we get lucky again.

Last year WAS great camping weather. No way we get that again... I booked a hotel instead.

I live like 40 minutes from DC and I still choose camping.
