I bit the bullet and just paid for the Holiday Inn Downtown - was $232 a night but for convenience to all of the main things to do in charleston with the exception of the concert, worth it. I'm usually a huge airbnb guy, but the prices were a little high if you were looking to be in the city

mt Pleasant wasn't nearly as expensive tho, just a little drive

Always the hardest question to answer. Do you want touristy or not touristy. Good recs so far. The market street area gets packed with tourists from cruise ships and such. King Street has great bars and restaurants. The further down King you go (toward the water) the nicer the shops get. If Billy Reid is still there (corner of King and Queen) you get complementary Woodford Reserve as you shop for $500 shirts.

Restaurants are everywhere and the ones mentioned so far are great.

We live in Mount Pleasant so we typically go to Sullivan's Island or Isle of Palms for the beach. Sullivan's is a little less obnoxious to park for us. Street parking. Good restaurants in their little "town" district as well. Everyone seems to love Poe's but I've never gotten the hype.

If it's open, something that's a bit out of the ordinary is the Birds of Prey Center. They put on displays with a few of the birds and you can walk around and see all of the falcons/eagles/vultures/owls....or you can drink. Several breweries/distilleries around.

Somehow I've never been to Charleston even though I've been in NC for over 20 years. Excited for my first trip. Any must do seafood place recommendations would be appreciated.

Frothy Beard put out some really tasty stuff. The cucumber beer is super drinkable if it's available. Tap room had a Nintendo and a few other things.

Rusty Bull opened up the week I was down there, but their first run was good and it seemed like a fun space.

Westbrook seems to be the most popular one around, which is in Mt. Pleasant. Never made it over there but had plenty of their offerings.

Coast Brewing had a lot of outdoor space. Decent beer. Good place to sit outside and drink.


I know there are a whole lot more around, but it's a start.

Trying to find a decent place that's open for an early dinner so I can get to the show before 7. Every place I tried opens at 5. I've been to Charleston once and hit a lot of the places around the market/port area. Wouldn't mind something away from that touristy section.


How is the parking at the venue? I don't have to take any kind of shuttle bus do I?

Concert Parking
-General Parking is located at Benefit Focus, 100 Benefitfocus Way, Charleston, SC 29492
-There is no fee to park in General Parking
-Shuttle buses will loop from general parking staring 1 hour before gates open until 1 hour after the show ends.
-Premium parking and handicap parking is located near the Volvo Car Stadium on Seven Farms Dr.

-Premium Parking consists of a fee and is limited. The lots are located near the Volvo Car Stadium.
-Premium Parking cannot be purchased in advanced and is cash only.
-Handicap Parking is located at the Volvo Car Stadium.
-Parking lots open at 5:00PM and close 1 hour after the show ends.
-Tailgating is prohibited by the City of Charleston.

I think I saw somewhere that premium was $10 but I could be misremembering that.

Don't bother with dowtown. If you get to the stadium area early enough, there are come cool bars/restaurants across the street from the venue. Otherwise, grab something on the way in in North Charleston or pass the venue and drive straight into Mount Pleasant (two minutes past) and grab something quick.

I got a 5:00pm reservation at FIG and scheduled a Lyft to pick me up at 6:40 and get me to the venue. Was $16 and definitely worth it

I did see that they were having a delivery delay for the show and that they should be shipping out last Friday, but I haven't received an email saying they have shipped yet.
