The GOP is about to get blown out in the suburbs, lose statehouses, lose even more seats in the House, and likely lose control of the Senate.

And they just took the only thing they could have leveraged for votes off the board with 8 days left.

Could have just pushed her through in the lame duck and held out hope that they could've saved Tillis' seat or something. Maybe McConnell really though there was no chance either way. His gavel is on the line.

Harry Reid never changed the rules. Things are now as they were in October 2013, 60 vote majority to confirm federal judicial appointments.

Republicans don't have 60 votes to confirm Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barret.

at a certain level im ok with this. what's really ridiculous is that several states dont allow counting the ballots until election day. THAT's the issue that's gonna cause delays

I read an interesting opinion article today about letting the uber conservative SCOTUS over play their hand before reacting. It would engender more support if the court did something too far such as overruling Obergefell. And then making moves to pack the court.

I don't know why "postmarked by election day" is so tough. Postmark date indicates the last day they could've cast their vote. If I can cast my vote in person on 11/3, there's no reason my sister who was temporarily in MT has to do hers sooner; not to mention she truly has no clue when it'll be received. It's a guessing game. Set a reasonable deadline of like a week after election day with postmark on election day or earlier. No reason to do anything else unless your primary objective is to confuse people, cause undue stress, and restrict people from voting as a result of anxiety.

Step 2 is to "misplace" ballots received in the days before, and since they won't be in the pile on Election Day, they can be tossed.



Check the address where each bag came from, and then decide which ones get sent on now, and which ones gets sent on Election Day, and accidentally received Wed.

CNN interviews an undecided North Carolina voter who says he's pro-life and will likely vote for Joe Biden if Amy Coney Barrett gets on the Supreme Court because he likes the Biden's other positions. But if she isn't confirmed he might vote for Trump to get a pro-life justice.

I think there's more than 9 other people like him. Don't need to put up with Trump to get a pro-life court now.

Of course it is. The options are nominate 3 moderates that both republicans and at least 7 dems would agree on, or just say you don't need those 7 and nominate extremists who've taken out ads arguing for the repeal of Roe and can't maintain their composure under really quite tame questioning.

While some states may be slow to report the winner apparently NC isn’t one of them which should give an early barometer of how it is going especially if it goes blue.

If the Democrats win the Presidency and the Senate, they should add 4 extra seats to the Supreme Court, as well as add judges at all levels. I think the chance of winning the Presidency and the Senate is under 50%, but if they win both, it'll be because the voters demand this.
