Re: ***Official Irvine 2009 Tour Thread***

I'm coming into town from Kentucky and was hoping to find two pavilion tickets for my brother-in-law and I (a new father gift from me to him!).

Thanks for your help! Can't wait to visit the area.

Ok guys... asking for a little advice... I am going to the Chula show but I bought off of TM and I'm in sec 303, which is way back there. I just joined the WH today and I kind of want to go to this show in Irvine. I went to the show in Chula kind of randomly last year and I've been totally obsessed with DMB since then lol. Based off of this thread it doesn't look like this show will be that much different than the one in Chula... suggestions? If I buy from the WH ticketing, think I'll get better than way upper reserved (section 303)?

Go to Irvine too. You will see two completely different shows going to two nights. And lets be honest, your going to have such a great time at Chula, you are going to want to see him again Sunday night. Its worth it.............

I am in the same boat as you. Introduced a while ago but just recently hooked. Had a whole trip planned to Alpine and my partner in crime canceled at last minute and sold my tics. Going to both shows in So Cal as the make up trip. Myself, I am going to try and hold out on here and hopefully get a ticket for myself. Good luck!

Not to be the spoil sport, but I would guess 7-8 repeats between Irvine and Chula Vista.

To the gentleman's question...you can't do much worse through WH instant ticketing at this point(because presumably you would request reserved) but I doubt it will be much better than 303.

If you only go to Chula or Irvine, go to Chula.

Yea I picked up a pair, first time using instants. I'm just happy for reserved. Not a fan of lawn, especially in Irvine.

Yeah, the last two in Phx were just amazing. My friend came down from MN for the '08 show. She is quite the veteren and she was blown away. Maybe that is why I am hooked again. Started to back around 10 years ago.

Just checking to see if there were any single tickets for Irvine. Really trying to avoid the lawn. And after purchasing Phish Festi tics. Can't go to a broker and get stuck with huge price. Looking for 2 but doesn't have to be together.

Thought about that. Been trying to get a couple of guys from work to come out for the shows. So I had to settle on the way south shows.

Yes, but the repeats will mostly be the BW stuff so that's ok. Not like they're gonna repeat anything jammy.

Remember this is Irvine. One of the safest cities in America.

I had to isolate this part. Is this true?

I heard that that if the Irvine cops find any homeless in Irvine, they round them up and drop 'em off in Santa Ana. I'm sure that's an urban legend, but when you're in Irvine you kinda get that conspiracy in the back of your head.
I work in Irvine, btw... Anybody else work or live in Irvine?

Anyways, I've starting reading this thread today because I just realized the show is a month away and wanted to see what people were saying about the upcoming show.
Maybe I'm paranoid, and I hope I am but I am worried that the band won't see this date as a "special" date on their calendar. I missed out on getting tix for the Greek, which I'm sure will be super sweet shows, and that makes me nervous about getting a great show in Irvine. I don't know if that makes sense, but I guess I kinda figure the odds of them playing us a special show and playing some special shows in L.A. are slim. I don't know, maybe I've got a "they gotta play a special place to play a special show" problem in my head because this year in particular they HAVE played some special shows in "regular" venues. Does anybody else have this concern about seeing them in Irvine?
On the plus side, I love the Big Whiskey songs they are playing now, and I love the shows that I've downloaded from this tour, so maybe I'm frettin for no reason.

If y'all see a dude in a #41 Beauford Anaheim Ducks jersey, gimme a "whats up!"

I think many of us are. I did 1 show in 97, then 1 in 98, then I was let loose to go to college and low and behold my next tour included 4 shows. Hasn't stopped since.

What the cops do in Irvine is party patrol. Make sure you have plastic cups or they'll fine you (or give you an MIP if you're not of age). Rum and cokes in a coke bottle is my personal favorite.

I had to isolate this part. Is this true?
Adam, sadly it is all true about that post and Irvine. I have witnessed first hand more then once Irvine PD tearing a car apart, pouring alcohol out or writing someone a ticket in the lots.

Say what you want, but they are doing their job. The key is to not give them any reason to stop in your area. They patrol on bikes, cars, motorcycles, so just keep your eyes open and all should be fine.

I work in Irvine, up by John Wayne Airport. If I see you at the show, since you are a Ducks fan, I will not say 'What's Up!'. GO KINGS!!!

Don't sweat this show either. The last time the band did an LA-Chula-Irvine run was in 2002. The Irvine show ended up being unique, if that is the right word. (Actually all three CA shows from that run were unique.) Not saying that we will get a similar type show this time around. But one can hope.

Not sure about cutting any Duck fan slack. Even if they do like DMB.

If you have been to Irvine for the Dead, then you know the drill. You should be fine. I just want give people a heads up so they don't get pinched or arrested at the show.

Good job Ben! And yes, I've seen them search the car, pour out a whole cooler of beer, and write the group tickets as well. Or, I think it's the driver/ owner of the car who ends up getting the ticket (or MIP as it was in the case I saw). So sad...but you're right, they're just doing their jobs.

Any team named after a Disney movie should be given a little ribbing. At least my team is owned by the great one. Suckie as they are.

And I thought Cali has gone "green"? Heck was living in San Luis Obispo about two years ago and they publicly said that herb was on the bottom of their list of worries.
