Re: I don't know about you, but I'm feeling '22 (tour chat)

It is also just a good precedent to set that bust outs/liberations get such regular play as well so people DON'T have to chase around to a bunch of venues and can just have a good chance of catching them at their shows.

For example lets take 3 interesting liberations and their play counts from this year and last:
'21
Broken Things - 2 plays
DIDO - 5 plays
Hello Again - 3 plays

'22 (so far)
Break Free - 10 plays
Break for It - 9 plays
The Dreaming Tree - 4 plays

Have had a feeling about this one myself. Been contemplated doing a 7.5 hr drive to finally check the CMAC show off the bucket list (Has had my interest since they started doing them in 2010). Plus tickets are only like $49, I love D&T and my son has been telling me he'd like to go to a D&T show and its on a Sunday so....we shall...see

Deer Creek, Alpine and SPAC right in a row has certainly spun this tour in a big positive trending direction the last couple weeks. Hoping the 2 night stands at Gilford and Camden continue it

Can't help but feel I'm going to regret missing Camden. This was supposed to be our first trip, but a family emergency has removed it from our schedule...massive bummer.

We do have Oceans Calling as our current "last" DMB-related show for the year, and there's a ton of great artists play there including folks we've never seen. Should a nice weekend at the beach.

Venue is very clean and peaceful by the water. I've been to the 1st 6 (Yikes) '10,12,16,17,18,19 and the sets have been solid but similar. Wondering if there any Mexico tunes coming, new material- Virginia, Ocean and Butterly, older covers, Some Devil rarities etc...

Thanks for the giving me an idea of the vibe. Sounds great!

Yeah, the sets have looked overwhelmingly similar give or take about 6-7 tunes. Those "same" ones look to be more from the good material bin luckily. But some real gems have show up over the years, too; Blue Water, I'll Back You up, Little Thing, Jimi>What Will Become Of Me, Beach Ball, Raven, Stone, Snow Outside, Halloween, Best, Fool to Think.

But at the end of the day this would be my first trip there (first D&T for me since 2017, first ever for my kids), its a Dave and Tim show, and for some reason those feel the most unpredictable even when they are and just tend to easily impress and satisfy.

I have heard it twice between Alpine and SPAC and there is a freshness to it that used to be in sledgehammer, watchtower, and the maker. I wish they would reset playing those 3 longtime covers (even though the maker is still rare in certain tour runs). Fool in the rain, bringing back don't fear the reaper and a few other rare but dope covers would be better cover slots.

I think Dave addressed this in a way in the latest Sirius interview. He said something like not playing Fool in the Rain and Sledgehammer as much as he wants to, and that they should make a short list of cover songs that they can rotate for that energy

If they were to add another cover into the Sledghammer/Fool in the Rain slot, I vote You Can Call Me Al.

I know most people hate covers (especially Sledgehammer) but I wouldn’t mind a rotation of about 3 or 4 solid covers, and then the occasional Maker and Watchtower thrown in as well.

Seems like people would be open to covers taking a spot in the set if it wasn't just dominated by sledgehammer. Perhaps even if it were lateral moves in the quality of the song. The value of variety in action.

You Can Call Me Al would be great, but I REALLY wanna see them cover Rubberband Man (no, not the TI song. The Spinners one)

Considering doing pit this year for the first time. I always get good seats a section or two behind pit in the middle, but wondering for those who have done both, is pit worth the added cost? If so, why?

You have to do it once to just try it out. Its cool.

I'd rather be closer to the sound board. Mostly it sounds great there and isn't muddled like in the pit. Also you have your seat, and thats your spot. You can come and go as you like and its always there.

It's really cool to be close enough to the stage to see how the band members interact during the show. I've been within 10 rows of the stage each time I've been in the pit (7 or 8 shows?), the last time being 2015. It's worth trying at least once being that close to the stage. That being said, it might be crowded and a pain to get and hold down your spot. I've been fortunate enough to be comfortable and have at least 1-2 other friends with me in the pit each time, but I know others may have had bad experiences.

I've heard others like to chill in the back of the pit, haven't done that but we had 1st row pavilion for Alpine N2 last weekend and the people in the pit there had plenty of room to move around on the right side. One family had 2 kids with them, absolutely decked out in homemade 4th of July DMB gear, super entertaining

I'm good with lawn or pavilion moving forward, but it's cool to be up close if you haven't done it before.

I just don't like the song Sledgehammer, and it caused irritation again this year - We left our seats to walk up the hill to hit the bathroom at Alpine during Sledge, and of course had to hustle back down when the notes to Dreaming Tree started. We must have been moving quickly, security came over and asked to see our tickets again when we got to our seats during 2nd verse, ha.

Fool in the Rain was really cool, and I love Maker and Watchtower. I have no complaints about closing a weekend with Watchtower, it isn't a cover to me.

Yes I only have done it 3 times but twice in the last 2 summer tours. The lottery in my opinion is great. Get there 2 hours before if you get a high number (top 15) get a rail spot and if you aren't that fortunate chill in the back of the pit.

Songs that should be played more from each album:

    RTT: Recently, IBYU, Christmas Song

UTTAD: BOWA, R&R, Typical, LLD, PFWYG (can’t count #34 although I’d love to see it pop up)

Crash: DIDO, LYD, Cry Freedom, Billies & Crash (where have these gone?)

BTCS: Last Stop, Stone, Halloween, DT, Pig, Spoon

ED: Space Between, So Right (although getting good plays this year), What You Are, Fool To Think

BS: Busted Stuff (RIP), Captain, Raven, KKJ (RIP)

    SU: American Baby, Hello Again

BW: Dive In, Alligator Pie, Spaceman

AFTW: Broken Things, Belly Belly (it’s fun), Riff, Snow Outside

CT: VITR (full band), B&BB (what a shame)

An absolute shame that everything on this list above is played either in the single digits or never during a summer tour nowadays (minus a few maybe). Interpret as you wish

I'd throw if I had it all in there too. I really wish that would pop up every now and again with the holding back the years outro. Looking at that list you comprised you could make some great setlists out of it

off the top of my head, I would add Drunken Soldier for sure. Dreamgirl also.

I like Christmas Song being limited mostly to late Fall shows. That's really where it belongs and Dave will usually play it then. I also like Halloween being a semi-rare song.
