City & Colour

I can't believe I didnt find any discussions on these forums about these guys!

So about three months ago, I came across this band called City & Colour, and they are spectacular. Its not so much a band as it is a vocalist/guitarist and a man on drums. But the music is so great and the vocals are beautiful, not to mention the acoustic guitar. Its very percussive and emotional, but its so good. And I urge you all to listen to them. Their most recent album I think came out last year. Its called Bring Me Your Love.

http://www.cityandcolour.ca/home/ <--- thats their website, I can't really post their music, but they have some great music.

Does anyone else know who I'm talking about???

The brains behind City And Colour is Dallas Green. He has been very popular in Canada for a couple of years now. He started out in a band called Alexisonfire, its a lot different then his acoustic stuff. I'm a big fan of City And Colour, I would definitely say worth checking out. Songs I would recommend:

    Day Old Hate
    Comin' Home
    Sometimes(I Wish)

I'm listening to their song called Waiting and it's pretty good Reminds me of a toned down Fleet Foxes. Just the whole percussive, acoustic feel and the guys voice. They don't necessarily sound like them, they just remind me of them. But a bit more rocking.

    Re: City & Colour

Love this band. I participated in a CD exchange a few years ago and included two of their tracks, Save Your Scissors and Comin' Home. They were lost on most people who participated (probably didn't even listen) but I got some great feedback from a couple of people in the group who really liked them.

The lyrics to Comin' Home really hit me hard because he mentions a bunch of places I have been and experiences I can relate to with regards to travelling and then he sings about the actual place I come from--the only place I've ever called home. I think that's kind of neat.

Well I've been down to Georgia,
I've seen the streets in the west,
    I've driven down the 90,
Oh hell, I've seen America's best.
    I've been through the Rockies,
    Hell, I've seen Saskatoon,
I've driven down the Highway 1
Just hopin' that I'd see you soon.

    Cuz I'm comin' home
    I'm comin' home

Well I've never been to Alaska,
    But I can tell you this;
    I've been to Lincoln, Nebraska
And hell you know it ain't worth shit.
    I've been through Nova Scotia,
    Sydney to Halifax,
But I'll never take any pictures
Cuz I'll know I'll just be right back.

I come from just outside Sydney, Nova Scotia.

The first time I heard of this guy was on Carson Daly's late night show (side note, since his show stopped being in a studio and instead done on the street, it's actually a really refreshing music/movie related show, tons of independent/less-well-known music and movies are highlighted on it, good stuff) probably 2 or 3 months ago. I like it a lot. Hopefully he does some more extensive touring.

I saw him/them at the Outside Lands festival in August and have pretty much been playing Grand Optimist on a daily basis since then.

Very good show for the hour or 50 minutes they had. Dallas even asked everyone to put away their cellphones for just one song and pretty much everyone complied.

One of my top 5 bands. Hello, I'm in Delaware might be one of the most beautiful songs ever written. And the entire album Little Hell is amazing.

Dallas Green has been posting a lot on Instagram lately of a lot of studio work, I think they're releasing their new album very soon!
