Man, I'm so excited from just reading this thread! So people don't think there will be camping?? Sounds annoying to have to schlep back to the city after a whole day of dmb and beer...

I'm going to be one lost person needing all of the honest, helpful NYC advice I can get. I'll be flying in, and need to stay someplace, any suggestions from you natives? I am at the mercy of you people to guide this crazy woman safely around.
I've been living in the Connecticut area for about 7 years now and spend a lot of time in NYC...Yankee games, nights on the town, etc. A lot of what I've read so far in this thread is right on - this is going to be an unbelievable weekend (I will definitely be there!!), BUT Randall's Island is going to be a nightmare as far as getting to and fro. Your best bet is to find some Ants who are staying somewhere in Manhattan (a hotel on the upper east side is probably your best bet) and team-up with them. My mom always told me..."Safety in numbers!"

NYC is a great place to be, especially during the summer when everyone is out and about...please do not let the Big Apple intimidate you!!! You are going to love it! I'm sure we'll get at lot more detail from the Warehouse as the dates get closer...i.e. transportation, bands, food, drink, etc. So make your plans and let's have some fun!!

And I can always be convinced to help a young lady in distress!!

I'm not sure if I'm going to go. I've been to a few shows at Randalls Island - Warped Tour and Lollapalooza. I know they re-did the arena, but it was just a bitch to get there. There is only one way on and off - the Triboro bridge and parking sucks. If you park on Manhattan be prepared to pay upwards of $40 for the day.

Could be like David Grey and some other people from Dave's record label (just a thought, havent researched anything). I could care less about the opening acts anyways...2 days of dmb on randall island with a bunch of ants will be a GOOD GOOD TIME.

I can hardly contain my excitement for this. I'm already going to hershey, nissan and both nights spac but those are close to a month before. NYC is going to be so much fun. Yes, the traveling/parking will be hell, yes, the crowds will be hell but its DMB two days in a row in NYC for christ's sake. I for one will be one happy person...

I saw Pearl Jam on Randall's Island a few years ago. It is a bit of a trek (train to Penn Station - subway to Harlem- walk to the shuttle bus - bus over the bridge to the stadium) and I imagine it could be a little confusing for out-of-towners, but I don't remember it being that big of a pain in the ass and I really liked the venue. It is different. I personally can't fucking wait!

The decrepid arena you saw them in isn't there anymore. They've redone it and this is the first year it'll be open.

wow that sounds complicated But it's worth it. I hope our friends want to go too, then we can just follow them, they know their way around.

well if we're making the drive down from Rochester (like 5 hours) a little time on a train or whatever into where we need to be would be nothing

is the an actual amp there?
it says it will be set up in amp style with seats and a lawn
i am wondering if the seats will be chairs tied together that everyone will break and throw or if they are actually screwed down

Trust me - you do not want to stay anyway near the Tri-boro bridge. Look for something on the Upper East Side or Midtown East.

harlem isnt really to be messed with but if you're coming out of a concert with a shitload of other people it shouldnt be much of a problem. just dont stray from the pack and start wandering around out there. also, i think the entire time spent at these shows is going to greatly outweigh how much of a bitch it is to get to and from randall's. i wouldnt miss these shows for anything.

question. so from what i've read, people who had VIP tixx in the past had beer and food included. Is this true? Now, if it is true, what about us 20 year olds? do you have to be 21 then to get VIP tixx if beer is being included? thanks ya'll.

    cheers.
