Right, and don't get me wrong, to sort of side with the right for a sec, a ton of these people do post 'liberal' shit a lot. So I'm not trying to act like people aren't vocal.

But I just feel like there's a difference between the feminism that's like "hey, maybe don't yell shit at me about my ass or needing to smile on the street? It won't make me fuck you.." and the extreme like borderline anti-guy feminism that gets the right riled up. The latter are few and far between; they can just be the most vocal, as far out people usually are.

Like with Zaj, the majority of my friends are liberals and a lot of us are are pretty rabidly liberal. I never see any of them talking about this stuff. It's always one of my righty friends posting some clickbait story from bumblefuckguns+thewall.hate with a big headline about how every college in America has banned Halloween costumes, and in the actual article you find out that one student group at one campus sent out a letter with some recommendations on costumes to avoid.

I found this one particularly amusing, some dolt of a professor from stanford is telling students not to tell others that a homework assignment was easy because they might get offended if they didn't think it was easy. Are we now going to create safe spaces for kids in college who struggle with their homework? What a collection of nonsense, anyone who has taken even a 100 level course in college knows damn well that some homework assignments are a complete joke and take ten minutes to complete.

Assuming that this is the original intende purpose of safe spaces, I don't necessarily disagree. But I could not fundamentally disagree with a concept more than that of shielding oneself from any potential negativity, dissent, disagreement, or pushback.

Also what the hell is the IA+ we're tacking on here now? This acronym continues to grow by the week, I swear!

Some people literally look for reasons to be offended, it is almost comical. Personally speaking, I honestly do not care what anyone says about me, I hear cracks from kids sometimes about being bald on top and I don't even react. I assure you I do not need some corner to cry in surrounded by a bunch of doctors and assorted bureaucrats acting like I am a returning combat vet with PTSD. I may have told you this in the past but I am literally banned from jury duty as of a few years ago because some professionally offended idiot got their panties in a wad about how I filled out my form, the judge actually demanded I either apologize to the court formally or be stricken from the list of eligible jurors. My sin - I listed my nationality as "American" and my race as "white" - that is about as an accurate description as I can give and some clown whined to a judge about it, that is just the height of looking for a reason to be a crybaby to me - to this day I wonder whether it was my race or nationality that got someone all 'offended.'

I think there is a substantially large middle space there where both of those positions can coexist. Also in two totally different contexts.

The world is a cold, dark, cruel, unrelenting place. You can either live in it and adjust your behavior accordingly or put yourself in a bubble safe space and hope everyone else will accommodate you. I'll take option A but maybe that's just the realist in me.

This is the fascinating intersection between state's rights and federal law which I love. Those are always the most interesting debates/cases to me.
