the bolded, no offense, is one of the dumbest things people cling to in sports

it goes against every principle of the Player's Union. Guys want to get paid and win but it sure as shit doesn't matter where they do it

no one is basing their families' well-being and place of settlement on trying to break some dumb curse, as much as we'd like to believe they do

“I believe in the plan they have in place right now for the future of the Cubs,” Lester said. “Leaving a place where you’ve already won is difficult, but I also relish in the chance of winning a world series for a franchise that never has [in a long time] adds a little extra for me.”

    Weird.

of course he's going to say that now...how naive are you?

the reason he is a Cub is because he was offered $20 million more dollars from them

$155 million with an option to make it $170 million compared to $135 million...now THAT'S sizable

This is patently stupid, and false.

Also, stop counting how many flights there are every day from Chicago to Nashville and let me know some of these teams in the same unique situation as Cubs that you alluded to earlier.

the Cubs are unique because they've sucked forever and have had 1 good year and that means everyone should want to play there

yes it's weird how people with public relations teams say things meant to endear themselves to the places they move

Main factor is obviously money, never said anything different. Doesn't mean that the Cubs aren't currently a place that players want to play.

The Chicago Bears. They have the same kind of fanbase that weirdly relishes in the fact that they don't win anything. They think players should take less money to come here because it would be awesome if they helped a team win a championship for a franchise that has historically sucked.
