Yeah. It still kills me that MA originally announced August for the end of masks and social distancing mandates but in April the cdc was like nah y’all good.

Really dumb to make vaccinated people wear masks again. What’s the point of a vaccine if you still have to do all the stuff we had to do a year ago? Doesn’t seem very fair for people that did the right thing to have to protect dumb anti vaxxers against their own stupidity.

That’s not who they are protecting though.

I agree, the mandates should be on the folks causing the problems. And we should all be angry as hell at them for their stupidity - they are driving illness and high utilization of hospital resources, and likely contributing to mutation of the virus beyond the bounds of the vaccines high-end efficacy.

Not sure if there are any J&J 1-dose folks here, but I’d start thinking about trying to snag a Pfizer or Moderna mRNA shot as a booster. For any international folks who lurk or pop in, if you received a single dose adenovirus-style vaccine, do the same.

But, if you think about it:

Setting arbitrary end dates was the stupid part.
This was before the delta variant became the dominant strain.
Vaccines to the general pop happened faster than originally expected
Vaccines for 12+ came faster than expected
Since science can tell us now it’s a good idea to wear a mask in certain areas and certain situations, it was perfectly fine to tell us back in April that it was ok for vaccinated people to not wear one


The issue wasn’t setting one date and moving it or giving one piece of guidance and updating it. The situations were entirely different. The issue is the delta strain and too many still unvaccinated.

I gave up caring a long time ago about the people not getting vaccinated. I’m starting to lose patience on the under 12 not having access yet.
