Anyone have experience with JPJ uppers? How is the sound? (That’s all I ultimately care about)

I do, but for basketball, not for a show. View lines are quite good, but I can't comment on the sound. not really much to hear at a bball game.

I didn't mind the sound when I was up there in 2012. I'm by no means a sound expert, but I had no complaints

I’ve never had problems with sound in the uppers. I’m not a complete audiophile, but I notice blatantly bad sound.

Just booked the Homewood Suites. Never been to Charlottesville at all. Looking forward to it. Christmas present from the wife! Any tips on the town in general? Looking to get in just a few hours before the show Friday but have all day Saturday to check out the city/area. Thanks!

I was in the uppers dead center in 2016 and it was good.

Warehouse has shafted us in the past, so I would wait until public on sale and request pits through WH. No use in requesting anything else; they just put you in the very back. At least that’s been my experience

I'm so pumped y'all. Now I just need to decide if I should stay with one of my friends still at UVA or whether I should bite the bullet and just make the drive from richmond to cville on both days. I like sleeping in my own bed.

Hoping to fly up and stay with a good friend of mine who is at UVA for the weekend, their exams end on the 17th it sounds like so trying to see if he is still up there. Should be nice to not have to deal with hotel or any of that, pretty sure his dorm is right near JPJ

You can't do this. If you request pits they put you through each level and you might get uppers.

No, not the one on Millmont. Not that it can't be done, but it's not short and not easy. About 2 mile walk.

*edit* To the downtown mall, Millers, etc.

Anyone else staying at University of Virginia Inn at Darden? Trying to get a feel on what it is like. Seems like a walkable distance to JPJ, which was my main concern.

Thanks. Do you have a recommendation for something that's central and walkable to both the show and the bars? First time in C'ville and wanna see everything, and won't have a car.

The Courtyard by the hospital is fairly central to jpj and the downtown mall, but IMO staying there means a fairly lengthy walk to either place. It's a mile one way to jpj and a mile the other way to the mall. IMO I'd just stay near 1 place or the other and taxi/uber.

I am - and I stayed there in 2016 as well. It's very close to the venue - about a 10-15 min walk. Very convenient.

No, unfortunately there isn't much. It's on campus so it's mostly buildings and housing and student/faculty parking. I haven't been back since the 2016 show, so I don't know if anything has changed since then. But it's a close drive/lyft/taxi to places.

Staying at a Courtyard Marriott about a mile from the venue. Flight to Richmond is booked. Now to get tickets. Locals, what are some good places to hit and things to do? We have been to Monticello and have been to Miller's.

This is where we will be staying. The walk to the venue is not so bad. Millers however would be a bit of a hike according to Google maps.
