Between this and Velvet Buzzsaw, February looks to be a pretty promising month for Netflix.
I guess i didn’t hate it but i didn’t love it either. I can see where it’s considered underrated for sure. I thought she was better in this than First Man.

Still holding out some sort of hope for Glass. Love Unbreakable, and really liked Split. I heard Glass is kind of a turd, but I was really looking forward to it, so I'll give it a chance when I see it this weekend.

    Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Mother fucker that was fun. A 45 minute fight scene that never got boring. Broly was such a shit character before this, and now he’s great.

Can’t believe I get DB, John Wick, AND Det. Pikachu in the same year.

They brought back Broly again? For like the 4th time? How the hell, did someone wish him back with the Dragon Balls or something?

Those other movies are no longer considered canon. Toriyama stepped in and completely re-did Broly and he’s AWESOME now.

I am curious to see in Glass if he's actually been doing superhero stuff for at least like, half of the time since Unbreakable. it's been a long time since I watched it, but I thought I remembered by the end he was ready start devoting real time to engaging with it.
Then again I guess anonymous hero'ing doesn't pay the bills, hence him still a security guard in his Split cameo

incredibly disappointed to find out my local imax, one of a small number capable of showing 70mm film, is being closed at the end of the month. seen many, many films there over the years, i think the first was fantasia 2000. last one i saw was 2001: a space odyssey, which i guess is as good as any to go out on. but man, what a loss for local movie goers.

finally, someone else who's not simply not crazy about the movie, but didn't still point to a saving grace being Malek's "incredible" performance.

I love the guy, but yes, he's kind of got TOO distinctive of a look. I was never aware I wasn't just looking at Rami Malek.

yes. while Freddy Mercury certainly didn't have a tiny jaw, but because of how extreme his upper teeth were it the whole top lip area much more prominent. They obviously made buck teeth for Malek to wear, but I think they went too simple on it, because then his jaw that he could shatter goddamn rocks with, it overshadows everything else. plus Freddie did seem to have a higher pitched natural speaking voice.

Queen owns, but I didn't have much interest in seeing Bohemian Rhapsody. Now if cohen had gotten his way and the movie showed a more realistic representation I probably would have seen it. Just kind of looks cheesy to me, idk I'm sure Ill watch it at some point

I think you guys are missing a pretty key point. At least, I'm ALMOST positive this is true. Brian May and Roger Taylor didn't like what Cohen wanted to do with the story overall, and they control the rights to the music. He couldn't make a film w/o the real music, there'd be no point. so in that manner, it was never really gonna happen.

Definitely a better game on the character. Better for him to just be born with natural potential then getting pissed off because of crying Kakarot.

Movie was fun, only thing that was lacking was the soundtrack

though, there is a sort of docudrama on youtube, it's roughly an hour in length, I watched it a few months ago. It uses a narrator for lots of bio information, but they shot some recreation stuff with actors, and the guy they have playing Freddie, he's not known or anything, but he looks a hell of a lot more like him that Malek did.

I thought Bohemian Rhapsody looked like the CBGBs of Queen films. Something that could be fun and occasionally campy, but nothing to be taken seriously. Which is precisely why I never went and saw it.

Gave it 3.5 stars. I have never really listened to a bunch of Queen and don't know a ton of the backstory with the band, but this all seemed very much like a cookie cutter biopic made to try and win awards. I agree with the above posts that it just seemed like Rami with buckteeth. It took me a min to get used to it (I binged all of the Mr. Robot about a month ago) and I really felt like Rami just looked uncomfortable wearing the teeth. The music 100% carried the movie. We Are The Champions from the Live Aid set was the highlight of the movie for me.

    Bohemian Rhapsody

Gave it 3.5 stars. I have never really listened to a bunch of Queen and don't know a ton of the backstory with the band, but this all seemed very much like a cookie cutter biopic made to try and win awards. I agree with the above posts that it just seemed like Rami with buckteeth. It took me a min to get used to it (I binged all of the Mr. Robot about a month ago) and I really felt like Rami just looked uncomfortable wearing the teeth. The music 100% carried the movie. We Are The Champions from the Live Aid set was the highlight of the movie for me.
in addition: I just watched the actual Live Aid set again with this fresh in my mind. Holy Shit. I wonder how many times Rami watched that video. He nails pretty much every little detail of that entire performance from Freddy.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Super Troopers 2: Awful, and shouldn't have been made. I knew it would be bad ahead of time because pretty much all comedy sequels are, but good God...
