GA at this show is going to be a disaster. I'm either going with VIP or not going at all.

I'll probably just end up sitting upper deck at these shows. After seeing Billy Joel/Elton John from the stands at CBP last year, I'm convinced the show is pretty much the same anywhere outside of the first 30 rows on the floor.

My understanding is that it will be on a raised platform near the soundboard (i.e. near the center of the GA floor). The price is steep but since I can only hit about 6 shows max this summer I'll probably go for it.

Phish will be getting much more of my money this year than DMB with this absolutely retarded new policy.

i\'m gonna put my request in for both nights, although I told my better half I\'d take a rest for this year since we are having a baby in a few weeks, but it\'s 6 months away, I think by then I can get out for a night or two! i mean, it\'s literally 15 minutes from me! how could I not go?

I\'ve sat field level at a game and last row behind home plate, i don\'t think there is a bad seat in the venue.

From when I've seen Paul McCartney and Billy Joel at Citi/Shea, the stage is set up along the end of the outfield. GA seating then runs from the outfield to the infield. VIP seating will be ok, since it will be on a raised platform. But like someone else said, unless you are in the first few rows of GA you're probably better off getting a regular seat in the stands.

I am totally psyched for these shows. It is about 30 min from my house, I am a Met fan, and it's on a weekend in July. I am just so concerned about this GA thing. The crowd is going to be a bunch of d bags and I really like my space at a show. I want to be close and I don't wanna get jacked for $275 VIP. Thoughts?

I think you're fucked any which way you look at it if you're going for Field. I may just do the $49.00 seats in the upper deck which is where I was for Billy Joel. It was fine up there.

There is parking, but not like most venues. Most people take the train to get to the stadium for Met games. Such easy access from LI, NYC, NJ. It doesn't make sense to drive into the ghetto. I will go out on a limb and guarantee seven on both nights, I know its a stretch<sarcasm. The field is going to be tight(as in close quarters, not in a good way). I imagine even if you are lucky enough to race to the front for position, you will be there for 5-6 hours straight with no respite. If anyone has been to the Warped Tour, with all those sweaty kids pushing you from everywhere, that is what the "first few rows" will be like. Blah, give me seats please.

So happy this is going down for Shitty field(said in the asian accent from SouthPark) and not the fucking Yankees. Fuck them, sorry for the hate. Met fans understand. Let's go summer Tour!!!

I'm no expert, but I think all you have to do is take the subway to Penn Station then take the Long Island RR to the stadium

No cab. You will want to catch the 7 train from manhattan to queens(LIRR is an option also). Either drops you off 100 yards from Citi Field.

Times Square is around 40th-44th St and Penn Station is 33rd so its a quick & easy walk to Penn Station. From there you can hop on the LIRR and take it right to Citi Field (i believe, i'm not a Mets fan so i never go to Citi Field but i believe thats correct).

Hey, a girl can dream, right?
Yea i live in NJ so i'll be traveling by trains the whole weekend. Plus i lose my license tomorrow morning for DUI (most likely 7 months) so i wont be driving there. But just look online at something like hotels.com or orbitz (although be careful booking through them because if something happens and you want to cancel the room you wont get your money back as opposed to if you book straight to the hotel).

I am always going in the city for work (ticket broker) but most of the hotels i have to drop stuff off to are pretty nice hotels and prob not cheap. I'm sure you can find something for a decent price in the city, not sure how nice it will be, or you can always just take the train into NJ and stay at a hotel somewhere. In Newark there is a walkway attached to the train station that has a Hilton (i believe its a Hilton) right there so you never have to walk outside from hotel to train station so thats always an option as well. Newark is a really short train ride from the city and trains run to and from the city through there quite often.

That might be a better option because finding something in the city for under $160 a night is prob going to be really tough. You're prob going to pay around $175-$200 a night (at least) for something in NYC but the Hilton in Newark attached to the train station prob cost around $100 a night. Plus the Hilton is at least a decent hotel chain and not some sleezy, run down, cheap hotel.

There's a Hampton Inn in Newark that I've stayed at twice thats really nice. Not in the best part of Newark (is there one?) but it wasn't too expensive and is 5 minutes from Newark Penn Station
