I really don't care much about lyrics if the music is good. I liked it. Out of the three new songs this is the best. OATB was also good. I wish SFTW was full band.

Just listened to this for the third time. When I heard it live on Sirius I was not impressed. I like it now and the more I listen the more I can imagine the background vocals fading, the rest of the band filling in and the outro maturing into something nice.

Absolutely love this new tune. It's funky, it's weird, the lyrics aren't atrocious, Buddy's backup vocals are a great touch, and I love Jeff gettin a little flute action in at the end. Singing From the Windows and Ocean and the Butterfly are good, but those I see as pretty static -- won't be as fun to hear them grow as it will be for WATM. Makes me very excited for the new material!!!

As I continue listening to it, I like it. The one thing that I keep noticing/feeling is that the lyrics seem rushed. Feel like they should let the music breathe a bit. For instance, at 2:25 of this video, when the band kicks in, I feel like they should go a bar or two of just the music/band and then Dave should come in with the lyrics.

The vocals in the beginning were really bad, but I wonder if it was an issue with his monitors. It was really off key, improved as the song went along.

Also I remember the first performance of Seven, he sounded awful. Hopefully he’ll make adjustments in later performances.

This was the very first time this song was ever played live. JFC, can we calm down and give the band some time work shit out. This song will undoubtedly get better the more they play it. There is a lot to work with here.

I know many of my personal friends that soured on big whiskey the first few years or so simply do to it being played to death. Many of them now say how much that album has had staying power over the years. Just because something gets plays on tour to death for a couple years, for us that have those songs for rest of our lives won’t really care about that eventually when the band is done. When it’s done we’ll wish we had bitched less when they were around.

Not saying we should love everything they do, I’m not that guy and hate most of CT. But lately the genuine hatred for AFTW and now these new songs after a 24 hour period boggles my mind a bit. Part of me wonders if it’s even possible for them to make something good because it feels like a huge faction will hate no matter what they do even if it’s actually good.

And I like AFTW. Vastly more than BWGGK.

And yes, unless it’s BTCS Part 2, a lot of fans are going to hate it.

I’m one who says this isn’t DMB of the 90’s, they’re not gonna make that music, so I try to approach new stuff with an open mind. But then again, as a parent, I can get a lot of where Dave is coming from with a lot of the “getting older”/retrospective vibe from the newer songs.

I think this song is really cool. The taper pull makes a world of difference. The Sirius version last night had me questioning. Hearing what Stefan is actually doing is really cool, particularly in the Outro.
