I don’t want a full on robot ump BUT... they need to start letting pitchers/hitters challenge balls/strikes. Kind of like tennis... you get a certain limit and it’s super quick to check.

Harper with the heroics. You can't need 9 runs to win every game though. Pitching is a disaster.

I think the Dodgers are hitting their "slump." Just dropped 2 to the Angels. And I don't like this weekend with the Nationals.

This is a pretty good idea. Generally speaking, the umps do a good job but some calls are just woof.

but if you have robot umps then there's no need to challenge at all

plus it eliminates another way of lengthening games

home plate umps will still have to call out/safe, check swings, fair/foul, balks, interference etc. etc. so it's not like a robot strike zone is taking away jobs

Yeah, but I think it satisfies the traditionalists to have an ump still (mostly) calling the game. Just like tennis. That could all be robotic too, but it's not.

I don't know jack shit about whatever of Trevor Bauer's past "issues", before today I just knew his name and he was a starter for the Indians.
But what most people seem to be so clearly missing as the real takeaway from the whole 'incident' here is Bauer needs to be plugged over in RF lickity split. dude's got a legit fucking cannon attached to his right shoulder

most starting pitchers at that level can throw a very long distance, it comes with the ability to throw 90+mph

My only guess is the Mets plan on trading Syndergaard for better prospects than the few they gave up for Stroman. I know the one kid was pretty good, the kid from Long Island, so we shall see.

I mean, if the Mets are looking to get better for next year... maybe I understand the trade a little bit (from the mets perspective anyway). But it seems like they are looking to trade Snydergaard so... I'm back to being confused by it.

Also... no team in contention was willing to give up more than that?

Just weird all the way around.

    Were not

They really set the market though. 2 non top 100 prospects for an All Star starter?!? Relievers are going to be very inexpensive

I'm not bashing the Mets at all. Just think it's weird all the way around especially if the Mets turn around and trade Snydergaard or another decent player (I don't know a whole lot about their team so I don't even know who's good) to a contender.
