Re: What live vinyl re-release is next?

Luther College was not in order (1999) and Crash and UTTAD were definitely both 20th anniversaries (2014 and 2016).

Assuming they meant Luther was in order after starting anew on live releases with RR95 and continued on with Luther.

RR95 was first retail live release, then Luther in 1999, followed by Listener Supported that fall.

I do think it's probably to early to say for sure they'll continue in that line, but Listener Supported probably has enough demand for it to be the next live release.

I'd also add that I'd prefer they stop doing RSD live releases. Just press the sets to black and sell them online. Use RSD for something creative. Demos, 7", live compilations on a single LP, stuff like that.

Ooh, good call! This is an excellent idea. I'd be on board with that, for sure!

Another idea I thought would be cool, and this is just me dreaming because it would never happen, is for the next DMB RSD release to be a 7" "Side by Side": Dave & Tim/Marilyn Manson - Cryptorchid.

I have a few of the splits they had been doing, Dark Globe was one of my favorites from the Side by Side series.

Yeah I'd like to see something like DMB25 for RSD and regular releases kept for general release instead of just the color variant. Maybe smaller tho, like 1 or 2 discs instead of 5.

That said, knowing DMB is going to release their RSD item later always make it super convenient to get the other things I want on RSD.

Figured I'd bump this since there's a lot of RSD talk here today.

I know you can't tell us what it is, but can you tell us if it will be avail. through the WH as a pre-order option? Not trying to stand in line for something for hours.

I'd be absolutely thrilled if DMB never had another RSD title.

Would save me the time and hassle if they only would do a standard releases or WH exclusives.

I'm surprised they don't do more WH exclusive releases. It would make sense because they'll get the money from the release plus an extra 35 bucks from people who may join just to buy a release.

Same. I'd rather place my order and wait rather than wait in line for hours just for a flipper to take the copies in front of me. (Black Friday 2017 RSD experience)

I don’t know, I think Hilly’s joke has some pretty good merit. I clearly remember a bunch of people getting pissed off about the vinyl exclusive. But I for one am all for it, the non-collectors will just have to deal with it

loud minority. Most people loved it, and those who have it have nothing but amazing things to say about it. Its one of the best releases the band has ever done

Weren't people complaining because the release didn't come with digital downloads then they release digital downloads that were fairly expensive (in comparison to most digital releases).

I also think there was a group who were upset initially that it was a vinyl only release and they didn't have a means to hear this incredible collection.

Neither of which are unreasonable asks. Hilly is just an ass.

I don't think anyone mentioned a compilation nor the desire to have something be exclusive to vinyl vs multiple formats. I'm fine with getting remastered audio for vinyl even if it's been released previously on digital formats.

Live 25 was perfect for an anniversary release; especially once the digital files were made available. But I don't see the need for continued compilations unless the Warehouse wants to put the annual disc on wax.

Going forward, though, I'd like to see full shows (released previously on other formats or not) or special performances or studio cuts that didn't make the albums; all properly remastered for vinyl. And, I'd prefer these not be made exclusive for RSD. If they want to do RSD, make it something creative and different. Unique 7" or 10" releases. A 12" of a long jam song. Things like that.

I think this would be awesome for rsd. I really want them to continue releasing the studio albums and official live albums on vinyl, but it would be cool to see random 7s, 10s, or 12s getting put out for rsd. They’d be a cheap buy, and one or two exclusive songs wouldn’t cause an uproar from non-vinyl folk. (Unless it’s like machead or something, and even I would think that’d be fucked up, haha) But just like a random Two Step takin up one side of a 12, and a couple random other live tracks for the B side would be fair. Or, two short songs for a 7”, etc.

There was a very loud group that were composed of people who were either a) never going to buy something on vinyl and were therefore left out and angry, or b) were going to buy it on vinyl but insisted the modern releases should all come with downloads or are worthless, and either way the sky was falling. If was for sure a response disproportionate to the otherwise grand slam that was Live 25.

Fucking awesome avatar pic by the way.

Yeah man, the live 25 box set is one of my prized possessions. It’s really my favorite thing in my record collection.

    And thanks! Weather Report rules
