I've never putted a ball OB or into a hazard.

yes exactly what my point is...yeah sure if you are a great great putter you can save strokes but if you are the average amateur who plays once a weekend, range once or twice during the week and you're putting isn't too inconsistent from round to round you are going to pick up more strokes off the tee with hitting your driver in play and a good distance out there.

Re: In need of some golf tips...

Thanks for all of the input! Some additional background on my current driver & putter.

My driver is a Titleist 910D with an Aldila RIP Phenom stiff shaft. Getting pretty old. I get about 260-270 average total distance. My typical ball flight is a medium trajectory with a slight fade. My issue is a big miss right when I'm having trouble. I really wanted to see if I could gain some distance, but more importantly accuracy with the same distance. I'm thinking an upgrade to the shaft may be all that I need. I really want to see the numbers on my current driver, numbers on my current driver with a new shaft and numbers with new drivers.

My putter is a Ping Craz-E Karsten Series. It's either 1st or 2nd gen and older than my driver. I'm still making a lot of puts with it, but it has a super hot face and can be kind of tricky on faster greens. I tried the Betinardi, Evnroll, Taylormade Rosa, Ping Helper, Odyssey Stroke Lab and Odyssey Triple Trak. Of course the Betinardi and Evnroll went straight to the top of the pack and the Ping was third. I could definitely control the speed much better and the feel and feedback were off the charts. I'm thinking I could make even more puts than I am now.

The Bettinardi with the new face tech is supposed to be amazing. Everyone who works at the golf shop has one already.

If that’s they way you’re going to go, would you make a trip to Chicago to get it done 100% right?

I had an used Evenroll ER3. They’re really nice, but I though the ball came off really hot.

They’re hard to find to demo, but the Cleveland milled putters are very nice too. Price might allow you to do both.

It really is amazing. I'm really tempted to just forgo the driver and go for it. But on the other hand it's hard to hit greens when you're having to play out of trouble. It's just that when my driver is on, it's really on, when it's off, look out.

If you’re going to spend $500 on a putter, I don’t think it’s that crazy to get fit by Bettinardi to make sure everything is perfect.

Took my first lesson with the new guy today. Really enjoyed hitting balls and watching the flight instead of just instantly looking to Trackman.

Felt very limber today, so I was really able to drive the left shoulder down and get a full turn with a real deep path. Would really love to swing like that everyday, but getting old is a bitch.

Not sure if anyone else follows Soly with NLU, but my swings flaws and his are identical when I’m not feeling good. Face rolls instead of hinging and turning to try and get the club into the slot. Nice to see someone else working through the same shit.

Texted my guy at the shop. Bettinardi definitely does traveling fitting/demo days.

I bet if you shoot them an email they can tell you when they’re in Pittsburgh.

The one I was looking at must have been a real bargain at $399!

    Amen to that brother.

Maybe I'll take a tune up lesson before I even consider a driver change.

I'm still putting with the hand-me-down Asner my dad gave me in the early 2000s. I love it and don't see myself buying a new one any time soon.

I am going to get fitted for a new driver this spring. My game would take such a big step forward if I could consistently get off the tee.

Fuck, all this talk about new drivers is making me envious. Even my buddy texted me a few weeks ago and asked if I want to go get fitted with him. I just can't justify dropping $500 on a driver right now. Maybe I'll ask for some golf shop gift cards (or just straight cash, homie) for my bday in May to take some of the sting out of it.

Buying new things when you're saving up for home projects is a tough sell to the CFO (Mrs. Stangs)

I'd never buy a new driver from the current year, I bought an M5 driver last year and saved a lot, the driver was brand new and got fitted

Take a $500 loan out of your 401k. She’ll never now as long as you keep the old headcover.

The mom and pop places here keep very little new inventory.

Seems like the only way to make that work is if a manufacturer will cut you a deal or let you sell it as consignment for taking on some of their leftover inventory.

Here is the ProV1 deal I posted about the other day.
Received my order off from LostGolfballs today, and I'm not sure if I will keep it or not. Ordered 48 'Mint 5a' TP5's and 18 of them had visible/faded sharpie lines/dots from previous users marking their ball and random logos.

I guess I wasn't expecting that many marked up balls and the faded sharpie marks on them makes me think that these balls were used pretty frequently prior.

You are better off returning them and waiting for the buy 3 get 1 free deal that happens every spring. Brand new, current year Pro v1 or X. It includes free personalization too.

Please post if you see this one. Thanks.

Edit: one free of you buy 3? I might do the buy one get one at Father’s Day.

I will but it will be everywhere. It is done by Titleist so every place that sells Titleist balls will have the deal. I have never seen a BOGO for new Pro V1's.
