What’s the reference to “norlanders interview”?
Also, the name of the movie is Dr Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.

Immigrant Song is in Thor Ragnarok. Twice.
AC/DC was used in all the Iron Man movies.

However, I realize this is probably a stretch and there probably will be no DMB song in any upcoming superhero movie.

Chad - are we wasting our time running with your super hero movie comment?

Matt Norlander did an interview with Carter back in August-ish, and it was supposed to be published in Modern Drummer in the fall. That got delayed, though, probably because they want to line it all up with the album release.

I had a similar thought about the MCU not having a lot of popular music in their films, then I realized:

MCU actually has a lot of songs in their movies.
No Way Home had Talking Heads and De La Soul
Eternals had Pink Floyd, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, and Foreigner
Shang Chi had a whole soundtrack with Anderson .Paak, Jhene Aiko, 21 Savage, Swae Lee
Black Widow had Don McLean & Sia
Far From Home has Whitney Houston
Endgame had Redbone, Traffic, Steppenwolf, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks
Captain Marvel had Salt-n-Pepa, Heart, No Doubt, Nirvana, Garbage, TLC, REM
Ant Man & Wasp had the Partridge Family, Dusty Springfield, Morrissey

With few exceptions there, it seems as tho those are much much larger legacy bands than DMB. I LOVE dmb but they aren’t the Stones, Steppenwolf etc. Black Panther had a hip hop album created FOR the movie. Shang Chi used a similar tie in process. Nearly everyone else you listed, including all of the artists on the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks, really are above DMB in terms of legacy. Yes arguments could be made to the contrary for some sure, but I feel to the casual individual if you told them Dmb was going to be on the soundtrack of an MCU movie they’d either shrug or cringe. Using DMB music is not like using Immigrant Song in Thor or AC/DC in the IM movies.

I think it's more that there's not really any contemporaneous songs that they've used.

That said, while I don't think the whole superhero thing was an actual hint, Morbius comes out in April and would be a good fit for Madman's Eyes (also, the trailer uses The Doors', "People are Strange").

I could be wrong, but I thought it was leaked that Carter would be on the cover of Modern Drummer sometime this spring, so the interview is going to be published then.

how many of those songs were brand new at the time of the release of the movie vs songs everyone already knows that were used? i'm going to venture a guess and say almost every single one was an old song. there's a big difference between using a brand new song vs something like crash into me.

Really, having a DMB song in a Marvel movie or similar is absolutely unimportant to me.
I remember I loved to have Some Devil at the end of 21 grams, which is still one of my favorite movies. That movie shocked me and Dave in the title track gave me chills when the lights went on at the theatre.
But those blockbusters made for old kids, who cares if there is a DMB song in one of them? Sorry, I should have posted this in the unpopular thread

Really excited about the tour, but bummed about no word on the album. I mean we’re a year and a half after mentioning it in the warehouse sessions. I don’t understand splitting up the announcements in terms of marketing so it makes me concerned about if it’s coming tbh.

I would say I’m disappointed but that would be lying. They’re coming back to Phoenix and that in itself is a gift to me. If they announce the album later on, all the better. I was just thrilled to see Phoenix there.
