Re: **Official Des Moines 2019**
Here's how I saw the Des Moines set. I was in row 38 at my 17th DMB show.
Louisiana Bayou- not a great song within the context of the DMB catalog, but Buddy played a great solo
Big Eyed Fish- a solid song that I'll always welcome.
Bartender- a great song that I'll always welcome. Jeff's solo was excellent.
So Right- Love it. Jeff, again, was wonderful.
Do You Remember- A weaker song within the context of the DMB catalog, but it works. Fun, easy-going. Paul Simon-esque.
So Much to Say- Who doesn't like this song? Please says ASTB is coming...
Anyone Seen the Bridge- It does come! Love it. Always. Carter, Fonz, Rashawn, Jeff. Killer.
Too Much- song of the night up until this point. But there was more to come...
Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)- I am admittedly not a fan of this song. But it was okay in this set because of what came before and after...
Crush- the song I most wanted to hear at the show. Rashawn and Tim played great solos.
The Stone- Jeff and Carter were excellent. Wonderful song and performances.
Crash into Me- like SMTS: who doesn't like this?
Kill the Preacher -> Why I Am- always welcomed at any show. The band clearly loves playing it, and I love hearing it.
Recently- a highlight of the night. The solos were great, the "everyone play and celebrate simultaneously" section was awesome.
Funny the Way It Is- this song is underrated. There, I said it.
Typical Situation- Song of the night. "Calypso" jam was sensational. Jeff and Rashawn were incredible. The transition back into the theme was seamless. Gold.
You & Me- I don't really like the song, but the band played it well.
Everyday- This is not the same as the Tinsley-era performances of the song; it was much better. Buddy was sensational. This song sounds GREAT with him.
PNP-> Rapunzel- a highlight of the evening. Rashawn and Jeff were wonderful. Carter, too.
Sister- a weaker song overall, but as a quiet song in the E1, it's okay.
All Along the Watchtower- sounded great, and the Stairway interpolation from Dave, Buddy, and Rashawn kicked ass. Loved it as a show closer.
