Re: General Discussion on Setlists as a Whole This Year

Here is a thought....

End the set with two step > ants

Encore with Last Stop (or equavialent) > two step reprise

Not that far off and awesome.

Here’s a thought...put almost any decently known, high energy song as a set/show closer instead of playing the same fucking 5 songs there every show. There are 30+ songs they could play in those slots.

It’s a staple tune off the new album and they made a video they play along with it (at least at two shows I’ve been at) so I’d be surprised if it went away. I don’t mind it. I really liked the original lyrics (farm aid I believe) better than what ended up on the album.

Someone pointed out in the comments of the JTR youtube video from Dallas that Tim had no idea that they changed the set to JTR. You can see him puzzled once Dave starts the song at about 2:15 and then he proceeds to look down and presumably read the setlist to double check.

Odd considering he switches from a 6 to 12 sting. Maybe Tim is mailing in this tour as well

Looked more to me like he was trying to get an effect going or something with a pedal/switch and it wasn't working at first. They all knew what was being played they heard each other talk about it for a while

Bummer no Come On Come On being played. I would take that over any other song on the album.

I went from "definitely not going to a show this summer" to buying tix for Bristow. If the Camden shows + other early shows early in the next leg of the tour are good, then I'll pull the trigger on Charlotte, as well. I also really want to do Gorge at some point. This summer might not be that time, but I need to do it sooner rather than later because the band can only tour like this for so long.

All it takes is one more Tour Debut after this break and they will have played the same amount of unique songs for the summer tour as they did in Europe. The variety in that Euro tour was non-existent.

Just a friendly reality check... the Houston/Dallas shows were really good. I was at them both and can confirm they were extremely enjoyable. However, those sets were not what Dave wrote out. There were some really good songs listed but we sort of got lucky. The band was feeling it and they improved both sets on their own. That won't always happen.

Warehouse instead of You and Me totally changed the Houston vibe at the end of the show and Dallas we got really lucky because of the rain. That JTR thrown in massively elevates how that set list looks but with no rain we were going to have a pretty bad run. Sister getting tossed helped quite a bit.

    Sledgehammer
    Sister
    Jimi Thing
    Cornbread

Big props to Dave though for actually throwing out Two Step>Halloween on his own. That to me does show some promise for the next leg of the tour. He even actually seemed to know the lyrics.

I’m genuinely looking forward to my upcoming shows (Mansfield and SPAC N2). I was this close to selling my SPAC tickets - they’re only lawn- but, the last few shows have given me hope.

Besides the Warehouse and JTR audibles they were exactly the sets he wrote out, just look at the set list photos. Why are you trying to spread false information? Are you that desperate to be right about a lack of set list variety? Is it that hard to just admit they're finding a comfortable groove now and enjoy it?

The Woodlands and Dallas shows where off the charts... in the pit for both... shows 55 & 56 for me and they were both as good as I’ve seen... they sound great and seem to be having a blast playing...
JTR audible in the rain was as good as it gets for any DMB fan.... unbelievable and if you were there you’re still smiling like me thinking about it... see you in WP...

I feel like reading comprehension may not really be your thing. However, it does appear that jumping to conclusions and putting words in other people's mouths is your strong suit. It seems to be serving you really well

A mid-set Sister would've crushed the energy coming off Sledgehammer. Oof. However, would it have been a full-band Sister?

This is my first year skipping Mansfield since I started going to shows (my only show is Hartford) but i might end up picking up a ticket at this point.

If it was further down the line, I'd consider it. But my gut (which is probably wrong) feeling is that they are going to fall back into the weak sets for the first few shows after the break. Which is where Mansfield falls.

Because I'm now optimistic, I'll now get Bayou, Stand Up, She, Can't Stop, and You and Me at both shows.

yeah. I just saw it in the "next 5 shows" thing on the almanac. Hopefully show 6 after the break they hit their stride again lol

Plus I would have to go alone (again) and I told me wife/kid I'm not going so we are going to see Toy Story now lol. I'm not above blowing them off but I also really want to see Toy STory

Yeah, if the wife had any interest in going to Mansfield I could probably be swayed... but even she's not thrilled with the direction of the band at the moment (no violin).

Yeah. Mansfield was fine last year but I just didn't have much fun solo..especially since we moved more North the drive really sucked.
