    So lucky to escape.

Duke obviously beatable, don't think anyone thinks they aren't. Tacko is such an oddity that it throws things off. And Aubrey Dawkins just went off.

I will say that I thought it was pretty clear that the shot with like 2 minutes left didn't hit the rim.

I figured it was going to go Duke’s way at that point. Such a huge points/momentum swing.

Not indisputably so. I figured they would’ve blown it dead, but whichever team that call favored was always going to come out ahead on replay.

I thought it looked clear in live action and was shocked they didn’t stop it. But it certainly wasn’t “clear” in the replay.

I don't know, I thought it was clear because the ball clearly didn't change rotation at all, which it certainly would have done. That combined with the sky cam and the one other angle.

I think the sky cam made it clear it did not hit the rim.

Yup that's the lasting memory in my mind.

That's why the tournament is great----kids are dumb. A layup would've been sufficient.

Probably. But to say the angle that made it clear is not one that shows where the ball and rim could have connected is not overturnable. To me.

The ball didn't hit the rim. But as Jay Bilas tweeted right after the play, there can't be indisputable evidence if a call takes that long to review.

Duke was lucky to escape with a win. That missed alley oop really was the difference. That was a five point swing. Duke is definitely beatable since they don’t shoot the 3 well. I hope the refs don’t let Zion run over people in the next round.

To be honest, I don't think Zion really ever lowers his shoulder much.

UCF brought several "oddity" factors in that game with Tacko, Dawkins draining, box and 1 and triangle and 2 defenses, 50% from 3 overall etc. That stuff is tough to deal with and is built for tournament upsets. Duke was extremely fortunate.

What a game by UCF. They were definitely better than that 9 seed suggested. They were 24-8 coming in, beat Houston, lost 2 games by 1 and 2 points respectively, and only lost by double digits twice (both to Memphis by 20+ oddly enough). Lastly, Johnny Dawkins did one a hell of a coaching job yesterday. Unreal

Looks like everyone is still doing well on their brackets with so much chalk advancing. I had 14 teams left after the first round and got all 14 right. Still have my entire Elite 8 intact.

Disappointing first weekend of games, but I think you can make a pretty strong argument that the Sweet Sixteen is actually comprised of the 16 best teams in the country. Oregon is somewhat of an outlier of course, but even they haven't lost in over a month now. I feel like they're no less deserving than Kansas State or Wisconsin would have been.

Hopefully it will make for a much more competitive second weekend.

looked at video review rules to see something today, and noticed that a coach can request a video review to determine if a flagrant foul occurred. I think the hook and hold call being flagrant is problematic to say the least, but as the rules are written it seems dawkins could have requested a review of deslaurier's clear HnH on the free throw. just more to make them feel miserable today.

Question for those that watch more NCAA basketball than I do - on replays, can they stitch two views together to determine a call, or can they only use 1 for "indisputable evidence" to overturn?

It looked like the ball did not hit the rim in that Duke game, and if you used both the overhead and straight on camera angles in conjunction, you could absolutely say the ball didn't hit the rim.

My co-worker was trying to tell me if they had been an at-large bid they would have been a higher seed, but because they won the conference they were 12. Something to do with the play-in games being the 11 seeds. I didn't quite follow, but regardless, they're the champion of a major conference and are hot right now.

Yeah, it's tough to deal with, but it'd be nice if Coach K actually tried to coach these days. He made no adjustments yesterday and was content just trying to let Zion or Barrett win the game. Which, I guess worked, but it probably won't against a better team.

Just saw that this was the first time ever that the betting favorites went 16-0 in the 2nd round.
