I just got the "we're experiencing high volume" form email a couple hours ago. You ordered on Dec 31 right? Maybe that means mine will ship in 3 days since mine was Jan 2.

Well... I ordered on the 31st, but received my high volume email on the 2nd. Maybe you only have 2 weeks left. Lol

Out of curiosity, what did you order?

Side Trips is so good. I can't stop listening to it. I found Hooteroll? in store too, but it was going for $50 bucks. I forget what the grade was, but there are a few VG+ on Discogs for nearly half the price. I'll probably just wait for the reissue.

I still need to grab side trips, anyone know of a place selling one under 50?

UHQR is sealed and I haven’t drank enough to open it.

Been hoping to snag an opened “beat up” VG condition to actually listen to.

Watching a couple on eBay right now

Haven't posted in this thread yet, but I've been backreading a bunch. Lots of helpful information in here. Just bought a U-Turn Orbit Plus table to start my initial set up.

Nice! I still have my U-turn Orbit since upgrading to a Linn Basik. It is a great starter table for sure! I might make it my second set up.

Got Luther College from SSD yesterday. Sounds great. My only question is what is the benefit of having it spread over 8 sides? I'd love to throw it on and relax without having to flip it after < 20 minutes. Wider grooves = better sound?

Any time you go over 20 mins (some say 18) you're starting to compromise the sonics of the record, cutting the record at a lower volume results in higher noise floor, etc.

You also get better frequency reproduction at the outer edges of the record, so if you see a record cut with lots of run out and think "why didn't they use wider grooves to spread it out more?" - well it's because you have a greater chance of high frequency distortion at the inner grooves of a record.

This is an article I often refer back to, interviews with four vinyl cutting engineers from several years ago who have been in the business for a long time discussing the ins and outs - https://www.emusician.com/how-to/mastering-vinyl

My biggest complaint at LLC is that they split up ALL THE TRANSITIONS?!?!?! It's great they all are on vinyl...but it sucks that none of the transitions are on a single side.

    So....

Can't pull the trigger on a 2M Black Stylus yet.

I do think my Bronze needs some more hours on it.

Maybe then I'll revisit the idea.

We have a music store going out of business (have been since mid-Nov) and their final day is this upcoming Thurs. I've gotten some great deals since they started closing.

Went in today and they had all their new records 50% off. I was able to get:

    Taylor Swift: Reputation ($18)
    Metallica: Hardwired ($15)
    Soundgarden: Louder than Love ($14)

Reputation was the biggest score. It's the orange FYE exclusive release. Originally $60.

Just bought that one today with Led Zeppelin III. Already have I and II, just ordered IV off Amazon. Can't imagine a better stretch of five rock albums, except Meddle through The Wall for Pink Floyd.

I would so love to see Pearl Jam's Ten get the proper audiophile treatment, it runs a little too long for a single LP and there is an analoge 1/2" tape master which it sounds like has never been used to cut a record as it was also mixed to 16/44.1 DAT concurrently, the DAT is likely the master for all the releases of the original album (even the Acoustic Sounds download for original mix is 24/44.1)

Original CD for me every time. I'd pay beaucoup bucks to see Ten get the 45rpm Clarity Vinyl / UHQR treatment, even the $100 the new Jimi Hendrix sets are going for would be day one preorder for me (http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/13...R_Vinyl_Record) - Ten is easily one of my all time favorite records, top ten album.

I know we've discussed this in here ad nauseum, but man I wish PJ would do something like this with all of their vinyl. Every single one of their reissues has just been a fail, sonically speaking.

90% of their vinyl releases have been a fail, period.
