Its not Tim, jesus. Its the death of a core member, a leading voice, and above all else, its David J Matthews. Why is that so hard to accept? Dave Matthews is a supremely talented artist, but he is a raw talent and without the proper guidance/production he is prone to indecisiveness, impulsiveness, and dubious decision making. The Dave Matthews Band sounds the way it does, for better or worse, because of the strengths and weaknesses of Dave Matthews as a songwriter. It all hinges on his whimsy. I'm tired of Tim being the fall guy.

I will say since my first show last summer Phish has pulled me away from DMB some for sure. If I wasnt going to the Gorge id be 1000x more excited to see them than DMB this summer.


They definitely havent lost the magic since Tim joined. It seemed to happen around 2012/AFTW IMO.

I'm not saying he wasn't great on that albums but he drones the band out with his electric guitar. The magic of DMB was acoustic and keyboards, that was behind the aurora of the concerts. Thats what made them different from all other bands. Phish is 100x better than current DMB. Go to a concert and educate yourself, you will never be able to sit at another DMB concert without disappointment because your not seeing phish.
