2012 MLB All-Star Game @ Kansas City, MO (7.10.12)

So from what I just read, the lineups have officially been set for tomorrow night's game. San Francisco's Matt Cain (9-3, 2.62 ERA) goes against Detroit's Justin Verlander (9-5, 2.58 ERA).

National League
1. Carlos Gonzalez, COL - DH
2. Melky Cabrera, SF - CF
3. Ryan Braun, MIL - LF*
4. Joey Votto, CIN - 1B
5. Carlos Beltran, STL - RF
6. Buster Posey, SF - C
7. Pablo Sandoval, SF - 3B
8. Dan Uggla, ATL - 2B
9. Rafael Furcal, STL - SS

American League
1. Derek Jeter, NY - SS
2. Robinson Cano, NY - 2B
3. Josh Hamilton, TEX - LF
4. Jose Bautista, TOR - RF
5. Prince Fielder, DET - 1B
6. Adrian Beltre, TEX - 3B
7. David Ortiz, BOS - DH
8. Mike Napoli, TEX - C
9. Curtis Granderson, NY - CF

* - replacing vote getter Matt Kemp

Now if I recall correctly, the impossible happened and the NL actually won this game last year. Not that it gave my team any advantage in the post season... But just get rid of the fucking rule once and for all.

"So, in theory, anyway, if the Yankees blaze through 162 games and the preposterously extended American League playoffs with, say, 118 wins while the Braves stagger through 162 games and the preposterously extended National League playoffs with, say, 89 wins, the Braves get the home-field advantage in the World Series because, back in July, in an exhibition game, Starlin Castro of the Cubs hit a ninth-inning dinger off Chris Perez of the Indians." - Charles P. Pierce, on Grantland today

oh and according to the ESPN article I got those lineups from, it sure sounded as though theoretically they're saying RA Dickey deserved to get the starting pitcher nod, and would have, but the coaches were afraid Buster Posey couldn't handle his knuckleball

pfftt... Carlos Ruiz should be starting anyway.

About the only positive you can take from the Phillies' season thus far.

If you're good, home field advatnage won't matter

The Texas Rangers will kick your ass in any stadium. It doesn't really matter with elite teams like that.

    Posey can handle it

They should let Posey catch last then bring him in to close the game for the NL. That would be sick. But I'm sure Craig will be handling the save duties if we are winning.

If the winner of the ASG gets home field, the winner of the HR Derby should be the home team for the ASG the next day... Makes just as much sense.

Picks for tonight? I'm going with Joey Bats...

yes. it makes me feel like a kid again. if Trumbo's roof-shot didn't make you laugh out of ridiculousness, you might need to find a new sport.
