Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Not sure what my favorite Disney movie is. Based on my childhood, my top 5 in no particular order were probably Robin Hood, The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and 101 Dalmatians (the animated version from the 60s).

I remember loving The Great Mouse Detective growing up, definitely couldn't rank my favorites though.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I did a complete re-watch of Disney animated films two summers ago. My favorites:

    1. The Lion King
    2. Beauty and the Beast
    3. Alice in Wonderland
    4. The Jungle Book
    5. Aladdin
    6. The Fox and the Hound
    7. Peter Pan
    8. Zootopia
    9. The Little Mermaid
    10. Lilo & Stitch

As for the live action Beauty and the Beast adaptation, I really enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting much based on the trailers, but it took me by total surprise. The best thing I can say about it is that I felt like a six-year-old kid transformed back to theater watching the animated feature. That lack of originality will be the biggest critique for most though.

Yeah, so Beauty and the Beast has already made $170 mil domestic for opening weekend. And the budget was $160.

I'm sure Emma Watson aint sweatin not doing La La Land for this movie if she has backend points.

btw, Ants is doing something weird for me right now, I wonder if anyone else experiencing it. like when I first open my bookmark of the nDMBc page, any thread with new posts in it since last visit is printed in bold. If I open that thread and read over the most recent posts, when I go back out to the main page properly, the thread title's back to normal font.
But now, and several times, the title keeps appearing in bold even after I went into it.
Yea, it's been doing that for me for weeks. None of the threads ever get marked as read so they all stay bold. Incredibly annoying.

Thinking about doing a double feature today.

Split at the cheap theater and then Get Out at the nice one.

She's actually said to be pretty pissed about missing out on La La Land based on every article I've read. She'd take an Oscar over millions of dollars she'd make elsewhere.

The Shallows. It was good for what it is. I'm a sucker for those kind of movies though. I liked it better than Open Water. Strange that they didn't mention the name of the beach though. It seemed pertinent, but I guess not.

I don't really understand the lack of originality critique. What did people expect, Gaston to win and get Beauty? Beauty to dismiss them all and run away to to the Sorbonne? I think they added some nice elements to make it just a little different from the animated version. It was beautifully done and I enjoyed the heck out of it. I didn't want it to end as a matter of fact. I liked all the new music (I can't remember what was added from the stage version, I'd have to double check). I was surprised they didn't have Human Again in the live action though. My only chief complaint, and it's a personal preference thing, was the Beast being totally CGI. I can't stand that, but like I said,it's a personal preference thing.

Evermore is probably my favorite song they added. It's the one Beast sang after Belle left the castle. Just a beautiful song. Day In The Sun was great too, really adding depth to the other characters that were guilty by association to Beast.

If you liked/loved the animated version, I have a hard time imagining you won't feel the same way about the live action version.

Get Out - 8.5/10. Saw it in a packed theater in Chicago. It was like I was a cotton ball in a coal mine...and other than the constant cheering from the audience against Alison Williams, I thought the movie itself was pretty good.

Logan - 10/10. By far my favorite X-Men movie. Dare I say Patrick Stewart best support actor nod?
