I’m going to try a couple at Golf Galaxy today and then buy from CPO. You guys are sayin that anything listed as Like New on there should be in good condition?

    That has been my experience.

My experience is “outlet” means brand new stock clubs with plastic wrap, original stickers, and original SKU tags.

“Like new” is very close for stock clubs but usually shows a bit of shop wear like you’d see on a putter without the plastic on it at Golf Galaxy, or brand new custom items.

They’ll take anything back no questions asked too, or issue credits if you want to keep the item but can show it’s not in as good of condition as they said. They have a detailed description of what all their categories mean. Just cannot find it on my phone.

Amen to that. I find that when either me or the guys I'm playing with are't hitting it well, this is usually the problem. I think that is a problem for weekend players and mid to high handicappers.

Got my short game straightened out and long irons are back on point, feel like I'm going to get a good round soon. It's crazy how far off on alignment I get sometimes on short game.

Good deal TS. I usually find that when I'm missing chips and not getting close to the hole, it's an alignment issue.

At the beach, played for first time since July fourth weekend. 43-39, best round I’ve had in years. Funny game.

Didn’t keep score. Hit lots of putts because I was a solo. Beautiful day. About 75 and sunny with no humidity.

They’ve got a special to walk 9 for $7 if you tee off on the back before 8AM. Going to try and take advantage of that as much as I can.

Re: In need of some golf tips...

So my son and I went to hit balls yesterday. He had just finished playing 18. We get to the range and there is a Callaway rep there who is doing fittings. Now my son has not been driving the ball well at all recently. He's been really frustrated because he doesn't feel like he is swinging that poorly but he has gone from hitting 10-12 fairways a round to like 4-6 and his scores are showing it. He has had the same shaft in his driver for over 2 years. It is the stiff shaft that came with his Rogue driver. He now had an Epic Flash head on it because he cracked the head of the Rogue driver and Callaway replaced it. The rep is a guy who is a terrific amatuer player who I used to caddy for a lot as a kid. I caddied for him in several club championship finals. Anyway he watches my son hit three drives and says "way too spinny." He goes to his bag and puts together a Maverick sub-zero driver with a stiff shaft that is designed for high launch but low spin. Holy shit! My son immediately starts to annihilate the ball. He's hitting this mid-trajectory ball that just goes forever and the sound is incredible. My son just looks at me and I am thinking "this is going to cost me." For like 10 minutes he just absolutely stripes it. Needless to say, we ordered the driver. I didn't ask how much extra the upgraded shaft was but I went on Callaway's site and it is $250 on there. So retail this club will be $750. Holy shit!! (for a second time) Hopefully the pro shop gives me a bit of a break on the price since it is for my son. They are pretty good with that stuff. They give him free shirts and hats all the time. The overriding point is that it is amazing how the proper fit really matters when it comes to equipment.

    What shaft?

As someone who likes to tinker, I wish equipment was cheaper, but for better players I think $750 and up is what it costs to get properly fit now.

My driver swing has been all over the place my whole life so not sure about the Graphite Design shaft in the driver, but my fairways and hybrids with the upgrades or real deals shafts are just so consistent. Graphite Design shaft is in the hybrid and Fujikura Atmos in the fairways.

Wedges showed up. These are “Like New”. Shaft bands and SKU is still on them. Didn’t take the sticker off the sole, but it looks like it’s just got some bag clatter on it.

So you have the same shaft, but stiffer? Small world. I'm thinking that in about a year, maybe less he will be ready for extra stiff and then this will become my driver.

Yep. I’ve got an AD-IZ-6X. I’m bad at explaining it.

Good plan on upgrading your stuff.

When I was hitting driver well, I loved the shaft. Just no time to practice rig he now and tee shots are the first thing to go.

Went to the range for the first time in...8 months?

Felt nice to actually be able to work on some things. Figured out that for a long time I just haven’t been bringing the club all the way back on my backswing which was causing me to sort of chop at the ball more. Once I really focused on bringing it back as far as I could, my swing was noticeably smoother and I was hitting the ball so much better.

The back net is 245 and I hit four in a row clear over it with driver, and nailed it halfway up with my 3H off the deck. If I can translate even half the consistency I had today to my round next week, I could see a few strokes come off. Got a chance to finally practice putting and chipping, too, which was a nice treat.

Hit balls OB off each of the first 3 tees. I was ready to walk off. Played the last 15 holes 2 over. This game makes no sense.

Shot a 86 yesterday, which is pretty average for me. Drives were off, but the short game was good.

Played the same course the last two days. Front is 2900 yards, back 3400 (both par 36). Somehow went 42-39 and 46-39 for an 81 and 85.

Couldn't do a single thing right on the front today then somehow got it all together on the back.

Finally a lot more confident with the putter and am making putts from all over the place or barely missing, not leaving myself 4-5 foot testers for my second putt.
