Wow, absolutely beautiful!! I can't see why there would be any complaints besides only playing one song..

Dave's voice was good. Dave's song was bad.

thought it sounded great. i love the song. thought it was pretty solid when i first heard it, but seeing it live in Cville on the day of the sandy hook shooting gave it real context for me personally

    Thanks for this link.

Agree this is a fantastic version. Vocals were great, and interesting change on the way he plays it on Guitar.

If you didn't care for his vocals, you probably don't care for Dave Matthews vocals at all.

I say the same thing any time Dave comes up in conversation. Some people like some don't. I always hear" He does this up and down with his voice" "Why does he do that?"

I say, that is the part fans like.

Anyway, talk about pressure. You are sitting on a stool in a NYC studio. People with cameras and hot lights beat down and are all around. The broadcast is nationwide. One take, aaand GO!

Loved how he changed the tempo of the song. It would be some much better if it was played like this full band!

I'm actually surprised Dave didn't plug the new "DMB" album coming out, or at the very least debut a new song from it. Part of me wonders if maybe the album release is "off" now?

I don't think Dave was 'live'... looked like it was daylight outside. Might have had several takes at it like he did with Stuck on You for the Elvis tribuite.

Also... stopped watching after Dave (I've done my donating and can only watch so much hurricane destruction videos)... was he the only one to play one of his own original songs?

It looked like daylight because it was in Times Square. Even at night, that place looks like day because of all the lights.

yep, good rendition and good choice for the setting. Dave's voice sounded good. The vocals in that song are always a bit of a challenge for him.

Musicians at that level don't think about anything like that once they are into the song, on another note I really like the guitar and vocal changes

He's probably going to use the upcoming benefit concert in C-Ville to do an album release party.

What struck me most was that he used a standard tuning for his guitar. Made the song drop deeper, I think I prefer it this way, not the repetitive two-string pluck he usually plays. This is what made the song a bit annoying for me when it first came out.

Well, that and the fact he thought the lyric "is it ask too much" was a good idea.

I can't tell if you are serious but no one in their right mind would plug anything, its a benefit, the only plug would be the phone number to text or call in donations.

Whats amazing about that lyric is he changed it away from one (saying "maybe not so sweet") which was impactful to the song itself and flowed infinitely better.

Maddening and infuriating. Makes no sense whatsoever, and is #1 problem with the new structure of the song for me. More so than the horn lines replacing Dave's main guitar riff.

I would hope so. I'm going to the benny show and if it isn't a surprise album release party, I'm going to throw a real stink.
