Yes, of course it is acceptable do view extremists of any religion or racial group negatively based on their actions.

However, Gabe incorrectly and purposefully conflates Americans like Tlaib and Omar with actual Islamic extremists because he doesn't like some aspects of their politics. Further, he often baselessly takes shots at the entire Islamic religion while also purposefully mislabeling disagreement with Israeli policies vis-à-vis their treatment of Palestinians as anti-semitism.

People are doing pedophilia at a (much) higher rate in Catholic Church than in American society as a whole, and it sure has taken a while for leaders of the church to come around and do something about it. Denying this is the same as denying the extremist streaks if Islam.

I think Sam Harris said it best when he said that the best way to defeat extremism in Islam (and this can be applied to any religion) is to:

1. Let moderates trying to leave oppressive and broken Islamic states into the United States.
2. Elect them to positions of power to serve as foils to the powerful in those states, as they could be the examples young people in those countries look up to instead of there own leaders or leaders within terrorist groups.

This, of course, will never happen as long as people on the right keep accusing elected Muslim (or Christian with funny name like Obama!) officials of being sleeper cells for terrorist organizations (lol).

It's a great mental exercise to really explore those beliefs. I was raised in the church. My parents are both pretty devout non-denominational Christians. When I look back I don't think I ever truly believed, but I thought a lot about it when I reached my early 20's and came to the conclusion that none of it is legitimate. It was incredibly freeing.

I don't fault or judge anyone who is religious unless they try to force those views on others or use it to justify them being idiots.
