Re: PlayStation Vue
I had PS Vue when I lived in an apartment from April 2016-April 2017. I liked it well enough, but there were three main issues I identified:
1. Slow start-up time. Best part about having cable again is being able to watch TV instantaneously. Had to start up the PS4 or Firestick, get to the app, have the app load...about a minute or so every time. Sucks if you're rushing to turn on a show or game and you're sitting there waiting for it to buffer.
2. Navigating through the guide is a bit of a pain. Not being able to hit the channel number was inconvenient; instead you have to scroll through the guide and find the channel you want.
3. Buffering. Might have been due to my Internet (actually had the boost or whatever and it still did this), but during high-traffic times (5-9 at night, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on weekends) it would lag/buffer a good amount. Also, just in general, you're about a minute behind actual live cable TV, so for sports games you're going to want to stay off social media.
It did have some benefits; it's a little bit cheaper than cable in my area, and it has free unlimited cloud-based DVR. It's not bad for a short-term solution if you're trying to cut costs, but I'm much happier with cable. Might be a little more expensive but I think justifiably so.
