Re: Share your unpopular DMB opinions.
I’m an "old" fan (following the band since 98, I was 15 years old), and I still think Everyday is a good/guilty pleasure album.
It was a treason at the time, but I always thought they succeeded in this kind of pop-rock sound they were chasing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s miles away from The Big 3 and tLS, but it’s highly enjoyable. Much more than their last albums.
I was thinking "They’re still making music with this Batson douchebag, Why not bring Ballard back (and burn the fanbase!), at this point". But in so many ways, sound wise, Cavallo is their new Ballard. Cavallo is a great mid point between old DMB quality (the musicianship that lacked in Everyday) and the pop-rock Ballard sound.
Even more unpopular opinion : I like Mother Father. It’s full of energy, Santana is great, it’s very naive without being childish. English is not my first langage, so I can be very selective with the lyrics I choose to hear. The most important thing, most of the time, is the flow and the melody (most of the time, cause things like "I’m like a junkie for you baby" makes me cringe...)
