Also, what are you guys talking about with logistics? Everything will already be set up at Firefly. They just have to truck the instruments and amps and the band will fly. They’re off Monday too. Easy transition from IN > DE > OH.

I just don't see why they wouldn't play Camden because of Firefly, but they'd play Columbia. Both Columbia and Camden are about the same distance away from Firefly. If it's a radius clause preventing it, then I'd assume it would've prevented Columbia too. And as far as time between, that also shouldn't matter much since Florence+the Machine played the Birthday Show one night and headlined Firefly the next.

Plus, idk. I think DMB might be a bit out of the Firefly crowd draw. Firefly is really big for people aged 16-mid/late 20's. DMB isn't really a huge draw to that age group anymore.

Fire fly is in Dover? Columbia you have to go all the way up 95 then down 1 or down to 301 bay bridge and drive back up.

Camden is 1 hour from Dover. Columbia further

I don’t know what map you’re looking at, but Dover is 83 miles from Camden, while Columbia is 122 miles.

Not selling out =/= shitty ticket sales

Sure the lawn wasn't totally packed for N1 last year, but it was at least filled out. And N2 was pretty damn crowded.

I just think that they had June 12-13 pencilled in for Camden, and then this other opportunity in the Philly area came up. Whatever it is. I don’t know why a band like them would even fuck with festivals. I’d have to think that it’d always pay more to just play to your own audience.

Shitty sales, eh I dunno. Last year they had 32,000 ticket sold. That’s not bad at all, more than most could pull in year after year. But there were probably something like 20,000 on N2 and 12,000 on N1, so it begs the question of is the first night necessary. That’s how Hartford and Star Lake got demoted.

Festival is potentially good cuz there may be other bands on the bill I wanna see.

Lots of bad though too. A shorter, "hit"-filled set, and a shittier, younger, more transient audience. (Sorry, I'm a cranky old man now)

Lockin Festival would make more sense than Firefly, but logistically it's not going to happen.

Not to mention 4 of those slots in the shorter set can be covers like at Sea Hear Now.i virtually never bitch about sets but that many covers in a shortened set was ridiculous.

Camden sold like shit the last several years, even after moving it to a weekend. That said they could have easily done well with a one nighter there but logistics must not have worked out.

Holmdel and MPP are both within 90 minutes of Philly, and word is DMB is probably headlining Firefly, so I’m sure that all factored in.

There could easily be another weekend of shows. AC certainly needs the revenue.

By the way, Holmdel is a 1 hour 20 minute drive from Philly. It's about the same for the NYC suburbs. NYC doesn't get shows often. There's Jones Beach, but traffic is a bitch.

I would think the average Radio 104.5 listener wouldn’t be into seeing DMB. That being said if they played it the crowd would be majority DMB fans so that point would be moot. The undercard would be interesting to say the least. Shit, when I saw Beck and Cage the Elephant people left after Cage. Crowd would likely thin out before DMB takes the stage depending on the makeup of the crowd.

ok so they play Burgettstown on July 3 and then Holmdel, NJ July 8.. there is a gap there. Any chance they play the "Wawa Welcome America" July 4th Festival in Philly? I mean it is directly on the road from Pittsburgh to NJ..

It's very easy to just request Live Nation leaves you off this list for the show schedule. It benefits smaller bands who want more people at the shows anyway but doesn't benefit DMB, so DMB could definitely tell them no on that. That wouldn't be a reason there is no show there.

I read an article that said Live nation will be doing 1, 3day event and Phish are playing the AC beach in August.
