Re: Philadelphia Phillies

Didn't watch the game but Nola's line was that of an ace last night. Things are headed in the right direction for this team. I saw a stat on MLB today: Since 2018, Nola is second only to Alcontra in games pitched of 8 innings or more.

I would have never guessed this. I was at the Rockies game where he rebounded after getting knocked for 3 in the first. He has the stuff, but it he just is stuck in that rut of having an inning where things just get out of control.

I'ts all going wrong with this team right now. Stars aren't playing like stars. Every starter is inconsistent and below the level we expected from them. The debacle with the 5th starter is absolutely inexcusable. Just let Bailey Falter or Christopher Sanchez pitch rather than taxing an already overused bullpen. I guess there is a chance that they can turn it around and make the playoffs but I am certainly not expecting that to happen. That being said, I still watch almost every inning of every game.

Was at the game yesterday. Highly recommend not taking a 4 year old and a 1 year old I think I caught maybe 25 minutes of actual game time and the only runs I got to actually witness was Schwarbers second 3 run shot. Still a fun experience though

Awesome, taking my almost 4-year-old and 15-month-old tonight. My son is starting to like baseball, so I'm a little more confident.

    Good luck

They handled the game fine, but the 1 year old was way too fidgety so my wife and I had to rotate taking him up to walk around and the 4 year old had to go bathroom a lot

I wouldn’t argue either. The only good thing you can say about him is he’s good for 6+ innings almost every start. Doesn’t mean all that much with a 4.60 era and zero consistency.

He has been inconsistent. We know that. What are you suggesting the Phillies do?

They need to try and add a starting pitcher, for one. Can’t have these bandaid games like last night when they should have won but have garbage pitchers like Marte and Covey pissing away leads.

I’m glad they didn’t extend Nola at this point, but the second he was wavering on signing a new deal they should have started making calls. Too late now. He clearly doesn’t care much about being here and it’s showing in both his performance and body language.

    That's rich.

Keep on with your "Nola sucks". I think Joe from South Philly just said the same thing on WIP.

What’s rich? I answered your question honestly and you replied with snark. How about trying to have a conversation instead of acting like it’s some wild opinion.

Dude has been average at best since the NLDS last year. Smoked against the Padres. Sucked in both starts against Houston. Has a 4.60 era this year (57th in MLB). 39th in K/9. He eats innings, which is his one positive, but you never know which Nola is going to show up. Completely unreliable.

Do YOU feel confident when he pitches?

I feel very confident every time Nola is on the mound. That being said, I'm glad they didn't extend him, because he is going to get a massive payday in free agency and I hope the Phillies don't pay it. They have arms waiting in the minors. Would I love to have Nola in our future picture as contenders? Certainly. But I think his contract will hamper those hopes.

I still think he's a really good, top-of-the-rotation pitcher. Just that nothing lasts forever.

How you watch? That has nothing to do with it. His numbers are completely average this season. He’d be a nobody to you on any other team.

Any well-versed baseball fan knows who Aaron Nola is. Are you kidding me? Just because his numbers have been down the first two months of the season doesn't make people instantly forget who he is.

There are plenty of pitchers in baseball who are having similar seasons, but when I see their name pop up or look ahead to who the Phillies will face this weekend, I know who they are and what they're capable of.

So again, you have no idea how I watch MLB or how I would perceive Aaron Nola had he never played for the Phillies.
